Global baggage size on the way...........
« on: June 11, 2015, 08:28. »
We've all had that experience of being asked to put our hand luggage (or at lest I have) because the cabin will be too full.

New guidelines for a global hand luggage size are being discussed.

Could be interesting at the queue to get on board...........

Sounds like a plan to me Joe, I'd rather see rules on this than the wattage of vacuum cleaners I can buy!!

The new rules are to be introduced by IATA.  Unfortunately neither Easyjet or Ryanair are members, so there'll be no change.

Sorry John but I've "bagged " Bert for my team already.

Hahah ok sorry.

Yeah I think it is a good thing as well. If everyone can get their bag on board then that makes sense.

Time to invest in shares of bag makers.

Mine is getting a bit worn but perhaps I'll wait until the dust settles before getting a replacement. Perhaps if bag designers made the top of cabin bags rounded, they could fit on their sides into the lockers which would enable more bags to go in them. The locker design shape, although constrained by the fuselage shape could be better. I understand airbus are redesigning the 320's lockers for future production. Maybe  soft bags should be the norm as that would provide more "flexibility".
