Does anyone know where I can  buy a satellite receiver off the shelf in perhaps Alicante or Torrvieja ? Don't want an online one due to the hassle of a delivery driver finding us on GA

This is a useful website for information.
If you have a permanent wifi connection iptv is a better option. I have heard that these are very good.

I found that Euronics at the GA  centre had a couple of Sat receivers bought one for €69, it set up OK. Only problem was the default installation menus were in German and needed setting to UK, I don't any German but managed in the end. I ve got a 1.4m dish, I've found in the early months of the year I can get BBC1,2,3 and 4 reliably but at the moment they only appear about 19:00 and dissappear before six in the morning. Some channels like Dave, Yesterday and Drama share a carrier with another which makes them weak at the best of times, wish I'd gone for 1.9m dish, the obstacles were though they are very expensive and my wife would go ballistic if I had on on the solarium.  I'm not sure a 1.2m would be much good  but if anyone knows better I'd like to hear about it

Decided to have TVIP from Telecable or Excom as they are known, went to their office  at Ave Escandinavia, they are not doing anymore installations  of this system for the time being as they are waiting for a new system, I'm going to ask again later in the year.

Forgive my ignorance, but how is "Satellite" even still a thing? I mean why? What can you get on a dish that is not streaming?

I've had a few years use out of my dish and receivers in GA, upside is its cost me nothing once installed, downside is reception isn't always reliable,, going to go to IPTV later this year once Telecable get their system up and running. Will still use Freesat at home as no subscription fees and has reliable reception.
