I find that using a Spanish yard brush is rather awkward. Maybe this is because the brush head is stuck straight onto the shaft and it feels 'wrong' somehow.
This year I brought a brush from the UK where the head goes onto the shaft at an angle.  This seems much more versatile and easy to use.
Spades seem to be the same and don't even have a handle on the shaft.

Is there a practical reason for this or is it just tradition?
