Been in GA for ten days, I can't remember a September when it's been as hot as this, currently sitting at one of the Carabassi bars and it's 27° , the guy serving at the bar said it's much hotter than normal. Kids went back to school today so beach much quieter, sea very warm but rough, I let the waves throw me about for ten minutes and got out

I can well believe 38°, only way we can sleep is to run the air con in our bedroom overnight, having had covid a month ago I've been prone to sudden hot flushes ever since  without the aircon I'd likely self combust.

We’ve treated ourselves to aircon during the night in the sumner but the cost from Iberdrola has been eye watering.

I've been thinking about going onto Iberdrolas cheap rate deal where you get  something like 13 hours of cheap elec, would make aircon a lot cheaper overnight. Last few days it's been a lot cooler overnight in GA fortunately, I had covid about six weeks ago and had left me prone to sudden hot flushes where I run with sweat, the aircon has been a life saver

Hi Kevin, the day noght tariff is definitely worth it. You get 14 hours at cheap rate and 10 at normal rate. The cheap hours are; summer 2300 - 1300 and winter 2200 - 1200. The summer / winter periods follow the autumn and spring clock changes. It's possible to do most of your high energy consumption activities within these hours and of course your nightly aircon is completely covered.
It's easy to do - just go to the Curenergia shop in Santa Pola with ID and previous bills and they do it there and then in about 15 minutes.

Before summer the price of electric was cheaper at night, on average 14c /KWH. during the hot weather due to the usage of A/C the price at night has been higher than the day tariff between the hours of14.00 and 17.00. Early in the year the contracts changed and i am on what is called regulated tariff which means i pay the price of the KW\H at what ever it is at that time of the day. The price changes every hour and there are various apps that display the changing prices. My neighbour got a 12 month deal with a company at 23c any time flat rate. I bet they are not offering that now. I to my knowledge have not had covid but have sweated an unbelievable amount for the last 4 month. The pattern has been. Ok during the afternoon with the sea breeze but around 20.30 h the breeze drops and the heat comes out of the ground and from the buildings making it unbearable.  Ok now we are cooler and wont need air con or the rip off prices. I read that the UK will be charging 52p per KW/H from October ?.At least we wont need the c/heating on for some time.

Just had an email from Bulb energy, my UK energy supplier, from October 1st my elec will be 35p per kWh and gas 10p per kWh seems the two year cap initiated by the government has been taken into account with the new costs.

Did I see an Iberdrola shop near the AJ Hotel getting ready to open when I was out in June ? Maybe they can do the cheap tariff down there. Definitely worth doing I think now.
We had a letter from EON Next today saying our DD will be dropping to £86 a month from £136 from 1st October due to the government £66 we are getting a month. Well happy with that

I do hope that people understand that the government is borrowing money to be able to fund the policy of the 2yr price cap and 400£ reduction. If you borrow it has to be payed back at some stage and guess who will be paying it back with interest added. I see the exchange rate GBP/euro is well down if it would go to 1 to 1 i might break even on my house sale. The weather has certainly cooled off now and can sleep through the night with no problem.
