Bureau de Change
« on: January 14, 2016, 10:12. »
Does anyone remember the name of the Bureau de Change, in the tabac shop, on Gran Alacant. I picked up a leaflet of theirs last time I was there and lost it! I recall they have a website which is what I am after to check their rates. Thanks

I've just found it!

http://www.eurochange.es/

They are offering euros 1.35 to the £ today which is very good. You can order currency (and tobacco) on line in advance for collection in GA.

Hi John/Barry

The grid shows them buying GBP at 1.305 and selling at 1.35, so if you wander in with £100 you are going to get 130.50 euros for it.

Michael.

PS Just checked the Caxton rate for buying euros right now and it is 1.297, fairly close.

Loulou, you are reading the grid the wrong way round, they are selling GBP for 1.35 meaning that for every 135 euros you have on hand they will give you £100, but if you then walk back in with the £100 2 mins later and ask for the euros back they will only give you 130.50 euros for your GBP.

The last couple of times I've used the Post Office and got near enough equal to High Street bank commercial rates. Incidentally yesterday NatWest commercial was 1.28/1.34 but the note rate was 1.252/1.43. Rates have been fairly volatile in the last three or four weeks. Sterling has strengthened by more than four cents in the past month with no reason AFAICS.
