It might be worth your while to pop down to the Clot today if you're interested in wildlife - most unusually four flamingoes have taken up residence at the main pool over the last few days.

As you will see from my photos, these are not the white-and-pink birds you can see at the Santa Pola salinas, but four youngsters. They are still quite impressive birds, and if you're in luck will be easily visible from the main hide.

Great photos, wish we were there to see them but not out yet.  It has been wonderful to get access into the clot this last couple of years because the big gates near the picnic area have been open. A couple of years ago when we started to come back to gran alacant we couldn't get in as they were always closed and my husband is in a wheelchair or electric scooter, we both love being able to get to the hides and around the clot now and appreciate your page in the advertiser too.

I saw them fly over my house recently gracefully flying towards the Clot nice to see.

Be great to see them back.
When we bought our house in 2002 there were quite a few on the big lake area and feeder streams.
Its unfortunate that not enough run off water seems to get down there now.

The Flamingos are still there as of yesterday, and also there seems to be record numbers of Bluethroats which are autumn arrivals - you'll find them in the damper areas at the edges of the reeds. They can be difficult to see, but they are very nice birds if you get a good view.

Thank you for these updates and great photos Mark.
A few years  ago I could enjoy a walk down there but these days it is too far for me. I hope if I can visit in GA cooler weather one day I may give it a go again. Meanwhile please keep the pictures and info coming.
