The Clot

This was the Clot in June, most water we've ever seen.

Still loads of water there. Never seen as much.

Mosquitos still around. Our daughter got bit a few times.

We walked back from the market last Thursday and went through the top estate as going onto Gabe and Aldi, saw exactly that view of water everywhere, we can’t remember it ever being like that, no wonder mozzies are such an issue down that area.

I am sure this is a daft question but is the clot water so apparent this year because the water table around it is in essence pushing water up? It doesn't seem to evaporate much even in the height of the summer.
Is it freshwater or brackish / salt from being so close to the shoreline?

Not daft. Or at least I am as daft as you haha. I too cannot understand how it's jsut sitting there with this incredible heat. I can only suppose the entire water table under it is "full" from last year./years If that's the case, and this "crazy" weather continues (and there are early reports of a possible Gota Fria this year) then it's getting scary imagining how high that area could potentially go.

I think the huge volume of water in the clot is due to the wettest January to May in 150 years, an owner on our phase told me that while he was in GA for January it rained every day for three weeks . Think the clot water is fresh and not salt or even brackish given the reeds that grow around the margins. I took my binoculars to the clot in June and it was wonderful, saw a marsh harrier, first one I've seen there. I suspect that more water run off from the estate is being diverted to the clot which might account for the bigger lakes at the moment.
