From February 1, Spain will only permit Brits who can prove they were fully vaccinated against Covid within the last 270 days to enter.

Anyone who received their second dose more than nine months ago must have had a booster jab to be allowed in.

The booster must have been given more than 14 days before travelling.

Spain's official travel website Safe Spain states: "From February 1, 2022, in order to travel to Spain with a vaccination certificate, the certificate must have been issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin at least 14 days after the date of administration of the last dose of the full course of vaccination, as long as the final dose of that course of vaccination was no more than 270 days ago."

The new requirement may cause problems for Brits who haven't yet had their booster and are hoping to visit Spain during half term.

Vaccinated Brits who had their second jab more than nine months ago but not yet had their booster must get it more than two weeks before half term to enter Spain during the holidays.

I’m starting to think that Spain is hell bent on killing its main source of revenue , the uk tourist trade is by far their largest group of holiday makers . Yet they seem hell bent on making it hard for them to do as they did pre Brexit . 90 days in 180 rule crazy now all the swallows are off to Turkey Bulgaria and Malta for the winter . Whole bars and restaurants are boarded up in Spain and whole towns are like ghost towns . Hotels in Benidorm are practically giving away hotel rooms .

It’s not that brits won’t travel I’ve seen Stansted packed every time I’ve been there since all the borders opened up , its just people are not going to Spain.

Time they stopped doing everything macron wants and thought for themselves before it’s too late .

According to the Leader newspaper it's Europe wide and not just Spain.

'The move is part of new European Union rules and affects all member states.
 
The European Commission said the update to the EU Vaccination Certificate has been based on available scientific evidence as well as objective criteria.

“This validity period takes into account the guidance of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, according to which booster doses are recommended at the latest six months after the completion of the first vaccination cycle.

“The Certificate will remain valid for a grace period of an additional three months beyond those six months to ensure that national vaccination campaigns can adjust, and citizens will have access to booster doses,” the Commission said.'

I was looking for the same answer Steve but it’s not clear on govt website , some websites are saying it’s 2 plus booster in last 270 days but none seem to mention kids . The uk govt is now saying a recovery cert is not acceptable in Spain but currently you can’t seem to access on NHS app your vaccination certificate if you have had it and recovered it just goes to recovery cert

Hopefully it will become clearer in n3xt few days

Reading the GovUK website there is a clear distinction between the under 12s who do not need a vaccination certificate and the over 12s who do. At the moment the 14 days after the second jab rule applies to all over 12s although it could change at anytime.

I’ve only had a quick look so may be mistaken, the Wilsons had a booster in September 2021 therefore they technically run out by June and entry will be refused. Assuming that’s correct and the rules remain unchanged in 2022 then we need Jab 4 quite soon.

I’m still confused my 12 year old grandson has just had his 2nd jab and at present in the Uk there are no plans to give him a booster .

So I am assuming he can’t come out yet

Found this info. I’d take that as it’s 270 days after your last vaccine. I’m not sure if this is in place for the U.K. because we are classed as a high risk country or if it’s something they plan to keep in place permanently.

I would say he can if his 2nd vaccine was within the 270 days. Hopefully more will come to light once it’s all implemented.

Thats a good question Kevin.

I am (optimistically perhaps) thinking that the 270 day rule is for jab 2 only - extract from the Spain entry requirements page:

"If you completed your vaccination (with both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) more than 270 days prior to travel to Spain, you must be able to show proof of having received a booster jab."

So - my take is that you must have had your second dose (jab) no more than 270 days before you come in OR you will need to show booster evidence. It doesnt say - or imply - that the booster can be no older than 270 days
