Hi, Sorry for bombarding the group with all these questions but could anyone tell me how do get rid of broken white goods? Is it the same as the uk where you can phone up the council and they will remove them for a fee?

Normally when they deliver a new one they take the old one away free of charge

Last time I did this, for a redundant settee, I sent a request via text to the number given. In due course, I received a reply telling me to put the item out on the street beside the bins on the evening before collection day, which I did. Next morning, it had gone - but whether the council took it or the white van men got there first, I have no idea.

As has been said, for white goods, if you are buying a new dishwasher/washing machine/fridge etc then usually they will deliver the new and take the old away with them. This is certainly true of Euronics, who are hard to beat anyway.

Thanks Aficionado, I’m just trying to be prepared, our house sale hasn’t gone through yet but we’ve been told the washer and tumble dryer aren’t working. They are in the utility room so it could be the dampness has gotten into the electrics or something like that, hopefully hubby can fix it if and when we can ever get out there.

Another thumbs up for Euronics if you are buying white goods.  Excellent service

Our freezer broke down and we called up to Euronics at the Commercial Centre about 5.00pm one day and chose a new one.  The lovely guy there was very apologetic because they couldn't deliver it until 7.00pm that evening!  When we order something in the UK we are used to being told something like  'delivery will be on Tuesday - but we can't say which Tuesday'

Spot on 7.00pm our new freezer was delivered and installed.  They even took the door off so it opened the other way around, removed and took away all the packaging and the old freezer.  All free of charge.
