Spain started vaccinations on 27th December, they are working on similar priority basis as UK. Everyone who is legally resident and has a SIP card will be contacted when they reach the criteria.

Spain has also said it will be giving the second vaccine at the recommended time of 21 days after the first.

The UK today passed the figure of 15 million vaccinations which 1500% more than Spain has done. Amazing effort by the now independent Brits. Certainly it has pulled the UK together as one in its fight against this killer.

Last week the UK had vaccinated more people than the whole of the EU countries put together.

Bit strange all the bad press the Astra Zeneca vaccine is getting around Europe at the moment given that just about everyone I know who has had the jab here got that one I’m struggling to see what the issue is ,by my reckoning at least 18 million in the uk have now had 1 shot of this vaccine and about 1 million had 2 shots of it. In Canada 10 million plus have had it as well as millions in the USA
So far I’ve not heard of a single blood clot reported as a result in UK, USA or Canada I’m not seeing the over 65s still dying because it doesn’t work on them ,and so far I’ve not seen people growing extra heads , limbs , or falling down after having it. Yes it can and in my case did make you feel a little rough for a couple of days but nothing bad .

Just putting it out there are the EU trying to undermine it because it’s british and it’s a bit of Brexit revenge? I really can’t see what the issue is the WHO have even said the blood clots reported are less than they would expect in an unvaccinated population .Even when it comes back clear of all charges they have now tainted it to their people and even before this latest fiasco there were hundred of EU citizens refusing that jab

I hope these countries are not putting their peoples lives at risk because of political one upmanship because to me that’s dangerous and I suspect manslaughter

If the EU don’t want it send it back here we can redouble our efforts and get on with it and then help countries that will be happy to get it

Agree 100% Spurs but I can only give you 9/10 because you forgot to mention the government injecting the microchips into our bodies so they can track us.
It hit me pretty hard - headache, aching joints and a stiff shoulder and arm - for a couple of days but I've ready and waiting for the second dose (roll on 13 May)

To give you an idea how its going here, they started vaccinating the over 80s las week here in GA, they are much slower here than the UK and if anyone wants to refuse their AstraZeneca jab here i will happily have it myself as My husband and I are not expected to be in that line for the vaccinations until at least June, so I'm thinking its possible it could be more like July. We are in our sixties.

Just on your point Spurs .... I just dont get the logic behind the countries pausing with the AZ jab especially as they are so far behind. Make no bones about it. this will cost lives in Spain and over teh rest of Europe.

The facts are that there have been 37 reported cases of thrombosis and blood clots - below the level you would expect for such a illness normally. What is more, there is no strong biological explanation why the vaccine would cause a blood clot.

I really cant help its politics over peoples lives

We have both had the AZ jab and virtually no side effects except a sore are - bring on second jab middle of May

I don’t think it’s anything to do with politics ,in my opinion it’s about the money not just today but in the years going forward. There will be billions to be made in profit but with so many players trying to be the first and most beneficial, discrediting the competition is standard practice. If you notice the claims are subtle but then like Chinese whispers the story spreads, throw in a couple of world leaders to subtly cast worry and concern and hey presto a product bubbles to the top and becomes the global choice of many.Frankly I wouldn’t trust any of them to tell the truth.

The head of Italy’s medicine regulator AIFA, admitted today that politicians had come under pressure to suspend AstraZeneca vaccines after Germany and France made similar moves.
‘We got to the point of a suspension because several European countries, including Germany and France, preferred to interrupt vaccinations. The choice is a political one’, Magrini said in an interview with La Repubblica.
Twelve EU countries have now suspended the use of the vaccine altogether – while other have blacklisted specific batches.
Meanwhile, health experts in Germany and France have accused their governments of playing politics with the AstraZeneca vaccine, which previously faced criticism after being unable to fulfil orders in Europe.
Scientists fear the latest suspension could fuel anti-vaccine sentiment despite the UK and World Health Organization finding there is no evidence of a link to blood clots.
Conservative MP Anthony Browne said European leaders were driven by ‘politics not science’ and that ‘the EU’s Brexit sulk with cost EU lives.’
Of the 17 million people across Europe who received the vaccine, there have only been 37 reports of blood clots which experts claim is well below normal levels without vaccination.

PS A bloke I know had the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine last week and now his Vauxhall Astra's gone and broken down. Coincidence?
Personally, I'm not willing to take the chance, even though we've only got a Mini and a BMW  ;)

You only need to look at the rate the hospital admissions together with the death rate reduction and compare that with those suffering a blood clot.

It then can be seen that thousands of lives have been saved by rolling out the vaccination in the Boris manner (Sorry Wilson I am only joking)

Save a thousand lives at the cost of one to me seems a good deal as long as I am not the one!

The real issue in this political or not and I suspect it is political is that in France yesterday they were throwing doses away and given the really bad press it’s had in Spain , France Germany and now about another 12 countries people will refuse to have it . It was already reported that after mad macron issued his comments on it about 4 weeks ago huge numbers in France were refusing it.

Politicians should stay out of it people are dying for their egos. Italy is already falling off a cliff again

Surely the fact that BioNTech is a German company and the EU massively funded the vaccine made by this company has absolutely nothing to do with it, I think it all stinks. This is big pharma at work with the aid of a couple of puppets.

I had my first jab, a Pfizer one, at the end of January. I just hope the politicians don't end up disrupting the supplies of my second one due in about a month.
