« on: October 14, 2020, 19:15. »
Hi
Just received email from easyJet saying my flight has been cancelled from Gatwick 26th November but no mention of the return flight Due on the 30th, just a long weekend messed up, not sure if I can claim for the return aswell.
Has anybody else had anything like this and what did you get back ????
Thanks in advance

My friend had it to cut a very long story short Ryanair’s policy was the returning flight is going it’s up to you to use it . He went through all the but I can’t because you cancelled outbound flight but all they would say was flight is going it’s up to you to use it or not they refused to refund and he got nowhere with them .

I have the same and I've put in for a refund.
As it all comes under one booking reference number I'm going to presume that I receive a refund on the whole booking.
This may help

Same here. I had my return flight cancelled in Sept. Requested a refund. Refund was issued approx 4 weeks later. One thing to note was I still got notification that my outbound flight was still in system but refunded fully. Hope this helps

easyJet are good at refunding your money and if only one flight on a reservation is cancelled they do refund for both.

A telephone call at 7.59am requesting a refund (rather than voucher or re-booking) works best - the money was back on my credit card almost immediately.  If you complete the online form requesting your refund it will take 3 or 4 weeks but does arrive.

Good Luck

Just got message from my daughter about some flights we had to come out this Saturday for a week, all but 1 grandchildren have been told to isolated due to someone at their  school has been diagnosed, she rang them ( EasyJet) and they will not give vouchers or refund, I can’t see how they can do that , we are now in tier 2 lockdown London 😷 which means you can’t mix with other households etc so how the hell are you suppose to get on a plane with 50 different households and not being 2mt apart.
Someone needs to make some proper rules that we can all adhere too, they are working backwards with this tier rule surely the should have started high and then reduced but to me it’s the wrong way around !!!! 321 ted Rogers, dusty bin. 😷😷😷😂😂😀

Law of contract

Both parties must comply with all the terms of the contract. Partial fulfilment would be consider a breach. Therefore if you booked the return trip and one leg is cancelled then it would be considered the whole trip is cancelled.

A long time since I studied A level law but that is my understanding. I always now pay by credit card most transactions, as if the other side fail to refund then as John recently said a call to your card company and request they do a charge back.

Steve why not just change the dates? Then you can keep changing them. I know Ryanair allow you to do this without any additional fees so I expect EasyJet also do that.

Morning all.

Good thread this - just thought I would share a few bits of info on this topic (apologies if this is covered off elsewhere)

If you book your in and out flight in one go and just have one reservation number, they will refund you even if one of the flights is still going. This could catch out some savvy frequent fliers (like me) that have rumbled that you can save a few £'s if you book two one way flights. Obvioulsy if one of those is cancelled or moved you cant pull out of the whole trip as one of your flights is still going.

The free move option with Ryanair is no no longer free - The No change fee was applicable for bookings made after 10 June for travel in July, August and September, and now October and November as well. But if you booked the flight before 10th June and the change happens for a flight this or next month flight change fees will have to be paid. I experienced that on Sept flight (that I walked away from in any event) when I tried to change it to December the cost for the two of us was £180 - just not worth it

Also when Ryanair offer you the chance of a free flight change (now via customer services) it's often cheaper and quicker to take the refund option and book again. They've cancelled two of my flights and by rebooking again from scratch I saved £47.00

.............and as a bonus you get to fly on an Airbus A320neo and not a Boeing 737 Max8 (or whatever they rename it as to get people on board)

Is the Max 8 flying again yet? I wasn't aware that the CAA had cleared it.
