New restrictions

These are the new measures to stop the Covid-19 that come into force today 18 August in the Comunidad Valenciana (DOGV):
 - Nightlife: activity is suspended in discos, dance halls, cocktail bars and karaoke bars.  Likewise, amateur singing or dancing performances.
 - Time restriction: The catering sector may not close later than 01:00 a.m. or accept more clients after 00:00. The separation distance will be 1.5 meters between tables with a maximum occupancy of 10 people per table.
 - Authorization is required for events or activities of more than 400 people.
 - Smoking is prohibited on public roads, terraces or beaches without a interpersonal distance of 2 meters.
- Forbidden to consume alcoholic beverages on public roads.
 - Nursing homes: Visits are restricted to one person per resident and a maximum of 1 hour.
 - In case of family and friends meetings in private spaces, it is recommended that they don’t exceed ten people and restrict them as far as possible to stable coexistence groups.

Seems Murcia have also introduced a change to car rules, now you can see may have maximum potential f 3 in a car unless all same family so no outings with friends.

Spain does seem to to be turning more into a police state and controlling everything, they should have kept nightclubs, discos etc shut like U.K. And rates probably would have stayed down.

Not sure how trying to protect the lives of its citizens makes Spain a police state.

They (Spain) had a pretty tough and rigourous lockdown and it was going well until the opened up the nighclubs again which seems to have been the root cause of many outbreaks.

As per Derek's original post. I saw a video from a VLOG in Benidorm saying that the area wsa (even more) doomed now. But if I have reaad it right any bar that sells a Tapa or has a kitchen can stay open ?

Not sure how closing bars early helps , does the virus sleep at 1.00 am, not sure how possibly doubling the cars on the road helps either. Probably be more deaths from road accidents and pollution into air.
Also the cripplof the economy will lead to more long term issues including mental health.

It seems different interpretations in different regions, orihuela costa say drink only bars too close, other regions not.
Seems if you have a tapa or burgers you can’t catch virus!!

It is so easy to knock what is being done to protect life. It is rather like that little old man in the UK that stood on his soap box protesting about absolutely everything but fortunately for him he did not have to come up with a workable solution. Neither the Spanish Government or the UK one actually want to destroy business they are desperately trying to save us all as is implied by Bert.

Not sure how closing bars early helps

- I imagine because earlier than 1am most Spanish families and friends are eating together at tables in at least a somewhat subdued and somehwat distanced fashion, and enjoying a quiet beer. After 1am - for example in the Barrio in Alicante - The clubs begin to open and that scene is very quickly tranformed into a shoulder to shoulder mass of a 1000 people that are drinking more heavily, fogetting about social distancing and masks, dancing, shouting at each other over loud music, and perhaps meeting each other and going home (I am jealous now... to be young again haha)

So the change would have been made not specifically because the virus sleeps at 1am, but because the social life and actions of millions of people changes around that time in teh evening. In the UK of course it'd be about 10pm haha

Im with you there Derek it infuriates me hearing and reading people disagreeing with everything, finding ways around everything and deliberately trying to frustrate the authorities. Yet they never have a solution or better idea, talk is cheap as they say. Not wishing to dredge up previous threads and im not cystic peg but some of us warned this would happen back in may.

The virus isn't going to go away until it's taken it's natural course, we will have to live with it the best we can, further lockdowns will decimate economies likely causing more deaths than the virus, people are going to have to be a damn sight more responsible and authorities hammer people who organise raves and illegal gatherings, I did think opening night clubs in Spain would be a disaster and it seems that's right. Let's hope for a vaccine soon. I'm testing the waters late in September and going out to GA and check my house and have some much needed r and r. Good luck everyone.

We were scheduled for late September but can’t take extra 14 days for quarantine so unless this changes will have to to reschedule.
Whilst initially Spain Handled the  crisis well the opening of night clubs & latest changes with different interpretations across regions seems a shambles whereas UK is now doing well

As an example of petty restrictions saw this post by Rogers, no singing after 6 ! Maybe virus comes out then!

Looking at the regulations it would appear that there should be no singing in bars/pubs at any time of the day....see attached.

Only professional entertainment is allowed in bars and restaurants that serve food (so not cocktail bars etc) and they must be either employed on contract by the owners or registered as autonomo.

And the arrival of the police at Rogers was nothing to do with petty restrictions.
