Santa Pola or here? I was in the garden yesterday listening to the "singer" belting out hits in the square until he was (I suspect divine intervention) rained off. After watching "that" video of the new bar Skippers opening up there in little Benidorm and flouting the rules regarding facemasks.... is it us? I don't know. It probably will be if we don't show some common sense.

Hadskidee Bar near the roundabout looks "half full" with plastic screens and a reasonable effort being put in. The Chinese next to it (Gran Mundo) packed. Packed full of us "Boomers" that the youngsters closed their businesses to protect.

This Summer cannot be saved. It's a dead duck. Keep trying and we'll be locked down for Christmas.

First outbreak of coronavirus in the province of Alicante. Public Health has just confirmed that four people from the same Santa Pola family have tested positive.

The mayor of Santa Pola, Loreto Serrano,has been informed today by Public Health of the outbreak in the municipality, although she has received hardly any relevant information about who it is. Apparently, it is an outbreak declared in a family that would be resident in the locality.

In a first analysis, two of its members would have tested positive, apparently, on Friday, so the rest of them were tested for PCR, following the protocols that have been established by the Ministry of Health. During the last weekend the other two positives would have been detected in exams conducted during the Saturday day. In total four cases, which leads to the outbreak.

The City Council does not have to take any action on this subject because all the work currently corresponds to the health workers. Trackers are now taking care to know which people they have been able to have contact with over the past few days to find out if the contagion could be spreading through the municipality.

This was never going to be over quickly and were now hurtling towards winter, its going to be a bumpy ride for everyone but at least the 80% did the right thing.

On another - but I think soon to be related note - I have elderly Spanish friends who told me they are living in fear because "The English have arrived". No masks and not a care in the world. We just need one carrier to stroll into Benidorm Square for breakfast/lunch/dinner/kebab this Sunday and they'll take out twenty people at least, then it'll be a lockdown for sure.

But overall the numbers for Valencia region including Alicante province are fairly low . As I understand it from friends out in GA there are lots of French, Germans etc about in Spain and not just British and they say everyone they know carries masks and wears them when required.

It's just the pools and gardens of the impacted urbanization which ever one it is, says 100 properties. Mentions that pools etc will reopen after disinfectant applied etc.
Suppose those on the urb will know the infected family.

I fear you are correct Wilson, there are always going to be a certain percentage of people who are Im all right Jacks, and are too daft to realise that this thing can and has affected, all age groups, and healthy people too.
We've been worried about ‘tourists’ arriving too, as Gaveteran states but not just the ones in planes from elsewhere, but people who are city dwellers in Spain and have their holiday homes here.  There is a disregard among a percentage of all nationalities and I see complacency in a lot of people of all nationalities who don't seem to think it matters about wearing a mask anymore or trying to keep your distance. 
And now we have multiple cases in Santa Pola and I have also heard two cases each in two separate urbanisations here in Gran Alacant. Please take care and observe distance, masks where you should wear them and always wash hands and sanitize

Not sure it’s fair to group brits not wearing masks along with you long known dislike of people having fun in the masa square GA veteran we are well aware you don’t enjoy it there and call it little Benidorm, personally I don’t like it either but wouldn’t discourage anyone from going there if they want .. most of what I have seen in the UK is people following the rules and in most cases going over and above what is required. But we do have to try to get back to normal life whatever that will be. No one can stay looked up for years waiting for a vaccine ,which may or not come in the future.

If people are not following the rules whatever nationality , then your duty is to report it to the police if you see it . Have you forwarded the video  to the Guardia ?

Amost (almost) tempted to go up to that square (Little Magaluf) on Sunday to watch the social distancing in action. You have to feel sorry for the poor souls living there.

It would appear the cases have come from a Santa Pola nightclub where I’m guessing social distancing was not adhered to. It much easier to get this in close proximity indoors than it is outside maybe if there were more people outside like in little Benidorm or little magaluf ,GA Veteran it would be harder to spread .Need to keep alert this isn’t over yet

That's true Spurs, I concur that dancing in a nightclub is certainly more retarded, and ethically bankrupt than spending an afternoon in one of my favourite squares.

I suppose the Squares were opened with the (naïve) hope that the people there would socially distance, and be at least, as you say, outdoors for the main part. However whoever thought opening a nightclub was a good idea - where it's patently obvious no distancing would occur - needs their head examining.

^I don't know about the dancing ban. Nor do I know if there was dancing/socialising in that disco, but it seems unlikely that people paid to go in there, wear a mask and keep two meters away from each other.
