I raised a dispute with American Express last Tuesday regarding a flight that had just been cancelled.
The credit for disputed charge has come through already.
According to Amex Ryanair may charge it back, if they do they will have to give me a refund to my card within 20 days as stated in their email to me, if not Amex will credit it back to me.
Amex agree that a voucher for a future flight is not a refund.

John - Did you decline the voucher and put yourself in the refund "queue" ? Thats what I have done with my cancelled flights in April (and no doubt what I'll be doing with the June and July ones) there was no point in me having vouchers for this year as I am booked out until November with all I want to take.

NOW - if they said it was a voucher +10/15% and it lasts for 24 months I would have been interested

Hi BeachLife, I asked for a refund, via My Bookings on their website, when I was first informed of the cancellation, about four days later I received the refund or voucher email....the link to the refund didn't work...how surprising....I went back on the website and tried to claim my refund again, it wouldn't let me as it aknowledged be that I'd already don't it.
From what I have read if say you will accept the voucher you have accepted the T&C attached to it and have given up your right to a timely refund.

The next flights we have booked are with Jet2, from what I have read they have been quite quick in issuing refunds for cancelled flights.

Just to add Rich, you will find that you will be receiving vouchers in a few weeks time even though you asked for a refund.
I could find no definition of refund that mentioned vouchers and made this clear to American Express!!

Good tip-off John. I always use a credit card to book flights for the added security. I'll raise a case if (when) the voucher comes - although I have got a screen grab from their online chat (took and age to get through) where the agent was accepting that I was getting a refund not a voucher

We'll see

We're owed as substantial amount from Emirates for long haul flights from 16th March, they tried to fob me off with vouchers but insisted on cash refund but they make you jump through hoops. I had to fill in 2 longish forms one month apart to apply!!

Spoke to credit card company and basically as you are promised a refund albeit outside legal guidelines they won't take on but if not back by 90 days they said they would.
We have a number of easy jet flights booked, took vouchers for first lot cancelled this month but will be looking for cash for next lot in June.

It would not surprise anyone if they did ban you . I doubt that there is a dirty trick that O’Leary won’t use he has fought against refunds forever. When the EU set up the refund for late flights and cancelled flights he fought it all the way. The man has a bigger ego than Donald trump he hates losing so I suspect he will carry out the threat. He has no integrity, I use Ryan Air as my last choice option and always stick by his rules never even buy a coffee on the plane . He gets no extras from me I don’t care about the middle seat etc priority bording is a con it just gets you further up the queue. On my last Ryanair flight about 80% of the plane has it so it pointless . He gets my ticket money and nothing else

I have no doubt they would issue a ban, apparently it has happened with one of the  cruise lines, it is one reason I am holding off a charge back on Emirates as I do want to use them again.

I did a chargeback on Record cars a couple of years ago after I was charged for damage after they had stamped form to say no damage!!
Next time I went to collect a booked car they said I was unable to collect as I had done chargeback!!
Never used them again but not so easy with an airline if they provide reliable service etc normally

I did email them saying that I had instigated a charge back with my card issuer, they have not acknowledged my email.
American Express have issued us with a credit. If they do as they are saying and blacklist all those doing chargebacks they will loose a hell of a lot of customers.

Weve got 10 Ryanair flights booked for this year, 2 already cancelled 3 and 4 in a couple of weeks. Initiated a chargeback this week for the easter flights as fed up with endless phone calls, web chats and emails promising a refund which has never arrived. Quite frankly i now need this money back its been in ryanairs bank for 7 months, the plane never took off, no fuel used no staff costs as i cant imagine theyve paid any operating costs since lockdown. In theory my thousands are with many other millions of pounds languishing in his bank, he can get a loan or ask mr varadcar for state aid i want my money.

I do wonder why RyanAir challenging charge backs? If their current position is that they would like to give us a refund but can't because their staff are working from home, then how can they object to a charge back which is really just relieving them of the burden?

Am I missing a link in the chain here?

Hi john. When you get a charge-back there is normally an additional fee for the seller to pay to their Merchant center. I suppose the travel industry being slow in refunding does ease their cash flow and is free borrowing as long as they don't get too many charge-backs.
