I've just noticed that Ryanair have changed the flights they have on sale from BHX to ALC. Yesterday you could buy from the 14th May onwards, today it's from the 22nd May onwards. Weird because when I changed my flights for early May they were advising not to rebook for May at all.

I think it is wishful thinking that Ryanair will be flying into Spain in May. Surely the route out of the lockdown issued by the Spanish PM does not suggest this is such.

I'm very doubtful my flights end June will be going and optimistic that September flights may go, May is a nonstarter I think. Also bugger all will be open except a few bars at 50% capacity.

100% with you chris and jackie, Spain will not be allowing the normal Summer influx of tourists this year.....we have flights booked for October, even if, and I do say if, Spain allows flights from the UK then.....I have read that the UK is at the back of the queue for when they allow flights back in due to the actions we have taken in fighting this virus, I would not want to go with the restrictions that are currently proposed, it would not be a holiday.

I've got to say if my passport was expiring in the next few months i wouldnt bother renewing it, how sad is that!!

Interestingly you CAN fly into Spain from the following countries - a few notable exceptions. Personally I think you need to be a) AND one of the others b) to i)

Passengers are not allowed to enter Spain.
This does not apply to:
a) Passengers arriving from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland (Rep.), Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden or Switzerland;
b) Nationals of Spain and their immediate family members;
c) Passengers travelling to their place of residency within the European Union and their immediate family members;
d) Passengers travelling to their place of residency in Andorra, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland;
e) Passengers with a long-term visa issued by a Schengen Member State, who go directly to their country of residence;
f) Healthcare or elderly care professionals in the performance of their duties;
g) Diplomats, international organizations, military personnel and members of humanitarian organizations in the performance of their duties;
h) People traveling for imperative family reasons duly accredited;
i) Persons who document reasons of force majeure or situation of need, or whose entry is permitted for humanitarian reasons.

Looking at how this flight operated I wouldn't want to be on one

They had head of Logan air at lunch time basically saying social distancing on airplanes was virtually impossible as the air is recycled anyway and it's not economical to fly half full planes .
guess only solution will be masks for all but if you need to drink or eat it defeats purpose.

It's already been accepted that social distancing on trains etc will also be impossible as they would have to run at 15% capacity which again is not feasible.

I read that Germans and Italians have been flying to Majorca to go to their holiday homes and the police at the airport have been refusing to let them out of the airport when they landed and sending them straight back.

Hi Ash - None of those flights have flown since 17th March

They schedule them and then cancel (no idea why)

Ryanair changed the time of the flights I had booked in August so they cancelled them. I rebooked for a longer period, more convenient times and chose flights three times the price I paid originally for no extra cost. 1-0

Hi B & W - they did the same for me for my July flights. Instead of putting by (4th) flight in the refund queue I had a good look at what they were doing.

A neat trick by Ryanair - I actually think they want you to do a full re-book at the inevitably higher costs. I used Skyscanner again on the dates that I was cancelled on and I was surprised to see I could still book those days - BHX - ALC rtn. What they had done was cancelled the return leg, but were still flying on the same day earlier in the morning.

That is the ALC based aircraft that flies at 07:00 with my 16:00 flight cancelled. So I just changed the return leg to a later date when the 16:00 flight was back on and as you found it was a free change. If I had taken the cancellation and re-booked it would have been significantly more.

I think they must have a whole dept set up to see what they money they can recover from anyone flying this year.

Mind (sorry for the thread drift) you - its still not clear if we will be going. He has said "we are flying to Spain July 1st onward" but there is still a lot of uncertainty if we would be allowed in.

I'm assuming Irish passengers will be allowed in as their virus numbers are better than U.K., not sure anyone will let U.K. Passengers in until there is a big improvement in numbers.
