Very low cold water pressure to kitchen sink
« on: February 21, 2020, 10:19. »
Forgive me if this seems a bit trite. Generally speaking, our water system is great,
much better than Tenerife. Only thing is in the kitchen, the cold water pressure is
pathetic. Hot water is fantastic. In the ground floor shower room there are 2 stop taps
for cold, 1 for hot. I had considered getting a water filter, but if the pressure isn't
sorted, there's no point. Any help appreciated.

Dismantle the wall stop tap to see if the rubber has perished or replace it only pence at Brick or any hardware shop

Normally a process of elimination, only 1 valve at meter if it’s open and you have good flow at any cold tap then all good. Most bathrooms and kitchen have there own valves both hot and cold. Hot is normally gravity or pump fed, but cold relies on mains pressure so if a particular tap is low it is normally the specific valve that feeds it. Valves do seize so a quick dismantle and check its closing and opening niicely then maybe a new washer.

I've had limescale accumulate behind the aerator on the outlet of the tap cause poor flow.

Good catch Kevin - thats exactly what I was going to say.

Had the same problem in the kitchen - unscrewed the coarse aerator off the tap to check it and it was almost completely blocked - water flow was normal behind it

Yes Beachlife, my problem only started after I opened and shut the small stop valves , think lumps of scale broke away in the valves and but lodged behind the aerator, took me a while to work it out though, like most things I do these days. Was

All sorted now thanks. Kevin from Water Filters Spain also fitted the filter. It wasn't
the valve or the aerator, but a mucky joint between them. Good prompt service from
Kevin, recommended.
