Buying in GA
« on: February 12, 2020, 17:13. »
My parents bought in GA in the early 2000's and sold about 10 years later.
My hubby and I have been visiting nearly every year since then too.
We had been planning to move homes in the UK but due to various factors, we will probably stay put where we are.
So...we were thinking of maybe buying a second home in GA. We both work from home and can squeeze in long weekends or 4 or 5 days at a time as well as our annual holidays.
We'd be looking at about 100-125,000 euros and I know that property prices seem to be on the rise.
After staying on a few urbanizations we'd probably prefer to be at the bottom of GA.
Would I be in the right ball area of budgeting for an extra 10% for fees etc?
Also, does anyone have any advice about buying. My parents bought when Mediterraneo were being built, so everything was done for them from start to finish..
We don't really want a new build and assume that if there were problems in any property structures, the more mature developments would have know by now?
TIA

Suggest you talk to Sonia at www.Costablancabeachhomes.com.  She is very helpful and able to access many properties and takes you through the whole process from start to finish.  Sonia also lives on Novamar very close to the area you are looking at.

Hi,

Firstly, good luck with your potential property purchase and either top, middle or bottom of GA is fabulous as ultimately we are one area within walking distance of each other - everyone has personal preference on their home location.

Can I suggest you use the search option above and put in 'Davey' as this forum user asked numerous questions when he was buying in GA (however, he never did buy in the end).

Best wishes

Maricia

Hi

I have a really smart and up together town house at the bottom of GA with sea views from the roof terrace.  If you would like to see it with a view of buying it this would save any agents fees etc.

Briefly it has.

Basement (very large and furnished). Lounge/Dinner and newly fitted and extended kitchen. Two double bedrooms and two bathrooms (One on the ground floor). Roof terrace with Awnings Fully air conditioned plus separate economy heating throughout the house. The house is fully furnished with quality modern furniture. Security bars throughout. Freeview Satellite in both the lounge and bedroom.

Looking for about 120,000 Euros. Just message me if this is of interest to you.

Derek

Thank you all.
We won't be coming over until the 16th May, so I will be in touch to see if it's still available.
Thank you all for your help, unsure as to wait until after Brexit but as we are not looking to move to GA, I can't see whether this would make any impact?

The aspect of the house is important, we are very glad we bought south facing as north facing properties are very cold in winter. Had our place in GA for sixteen years as a holiday home, best purchase of our lives still get immense pleasure from it.

Consideration of the orientation of a house is important and I know the weight of opinion on here is to buy south facing.  However when we were buying our casa (off plan) there was an extra cost for east facing houses!

We were told by the builders that Spanish buyers prefer east facing and, even then, spend a lot of money protecting the property with awnings, trees, high gates and walls to keep in the shade. We also talked to lots of residents before making our decision to go for east facing and have never regretted it. In spring/summer we get the heat of the sun at the front until early evening, which is perfect.  In winter we get any heat from the sun at the front until the strength goes out of it.

Everyone has their own opinions and choices so it is important to spend time carefully working out what would work for yourself.

Good luck
