Our bill was for 17.23 including IVA and 'servicios y otros conceptos'.

Think this must be a standing charge because our casa is also empty and has the power turned off - having twice over the years had a power trip which left the freezer to defrost and us/family being greeted on our return to the most evil smelling mess ever!  Lesson learnt the hard way.

We had the same evil mess greet us in October, now power completely off as is the water at the metre.

Yes Derek, as well as turning off the electricity we also turn off the water from outside.  Then the final task is to spray bug killer around the rooms before locking up the casa.

Not sure if it's a subject not spoken about but this year has been the worst in nearly 20 years for roaches, we even early in the year emptied the whole house outside leaving an empty shell and did room by room sealing potential entry routes, took the kitchen and bathroom apart to seal pipes etc, sealed ceiling lights and aircon units but still on arrival back weeks later found roaches either dead or running around. Its becoming an obsession now over who will win, i think some neighbours on puerto marino are having the same issue but as residents are able to sort it out there and then.

That would be my worst nightmare Wilson.  Our casa is lower Monte Mar and, thankfully we have never had a problem with roaches but I know that could be just good luck.  Those tiny ants - yes, the odd silver fish - yes.  Hope you win the battle.

Strangely this year we haven't had a roach problem, it's been better since I wrapped a very fine mesh round the louvres on the solarium mounted ventilation stack.

We did the same with our ventilation stack some years ago - after a bird fell in and we heard it through the vent in our shower room.

After removing the cover on the vent, and with a bit of guidance from my husband impersonating a bull fighter with a cape, the bird flew out of the front door to the safety of the sky once again.  Thank goodness we were at the house when it happened.

We use to have a big issue with silverfish. Ended up putting boric acid (cheap of eBay) around the edges of the floor in all rooms, and it seems to be working. No idea if it would work against ants or cockroaches as never seem to have issues with them.
