We installed a new oven, hob and hood. trying to run these along with TV and light was a problem. Regards electricians having to be Spanish. As far as I'm aware, in order for an electrician to supply a Bolletin, excuse the spelling, he must be registered and they will only register Spanish Electricians.
This was all info by word of mouth, but it was from people who have been in GA for a long time, and one person in particular who carries out a lot of building work in the area.

Any nationality can be a legal electrician, they just need to pass the Spanish Exams.

Spot on, as with taxi drivers, all you need is the necessary qualification......along with about €60,000 to buy your licence if you are a cabbie and want to run your own car

I'll get shouted at here, but when you've spent at least £80,000 buying your place in the sun what's the hassle all about with paying say €300 to get your electric supply upgraded to a decent KW level.
If ours kept on tripping or if we had to think about what we could have on simultaneously I'd just get it done....correctly I may add

A young friend of the family, an Irish qualified electrician, decided 4 years ago to go and work down the mines at Mount Isa in Australia to earn some good money, he first had to spend 6 mths as an "apprentice" to an Aussie spark, then pass an exam to show competence in Aussie electrics, I imagine it would be the same anywhere and quite right too.

Totally agree John peoples efforts to penny pinch and save a few quid never ceases to amaze me, its no doubt the same people that were fighting over free hotdogs on lidls opening day, always trying to get something for nothing.

not sure whats going on with this thead..I thought the idea of smart meters was for you to monitor the useage within your home.
For what i can gather they are still housed in the community cupboards.  Also i notice on my elec bill that i am contracted to 5.75 kilo so should not need to upgade to 5.5 kilo.  Also had an email from supplier that they are reverting back to monthly bills..ie 1st month actual...2nd month estimated.    ian

We are on Med 1 , back in UK but had some communications from adminstrators to say Iberdola have changed the supply systems which has had effect of blowing community electrics, causing the electric doors to fail, blow out street lights and cause some power outages!! Anyone had this problem on their community?

Also there is a circular which I think says contact Iberdola to upgrade supply. So as some of you have had this done, can you advise which Spanish electrician you got mad how long the process took?
We are not again until Setember and hope supply will work OK until then

We had this done earlier in the year. We used our lawyer to arrange it. They contacted Electricidad, Pablo Espinosa. Once the Boletin was supplied our lawyer then sent this to Iberdrola for us. 250 Euro total.
