Urgent...It's the end of the world!

That's an interesting point llamedos. The eateries also fail at an incredible rate of knots here too. Perhaps they are misjudging the amount of English people here, and the amount of those that want to eat English? Just a thought.

I want to put on the record that I love English Breakfast, and so do many of my Spanish friends when introduced to it (once they regain consciousness after seeing it haha). In all honestly I've never found a particularly good one in GA...the best of them seemed to be Just Deserts in the day. The Lemon Tree market at least does a huge one that takes away to need for lunch haha.

It was the urgency that dleafy put into consuming English only fare that I found so interesting.

dleafy, Victor (above) honestly had a reasonable suggestion you know. If English food, or English culture in general is important to you - and of course there's no reason it shouldn't be, you don't have to love Spain, the Spanish and Spanish culture to move to Spain, it's not a requirement (although I would say a happy event if you do) then you really should take a closer look at La Marina - which is (as far as I know, perhaps others can comment) a much more English culture oriented place to live.

I knew a guy once who was actually desperate to move out of GA and over to La Marina for this very reason. "There's no proper butchers here" was one of his problems. "Can't get a decent cup of tea"....I can go on.

Joking aside, perhaps La Marina is the place I should go for English breakfast?!

I think you're all over thinking this....lol. My sense of humour doesn't seem to fit very well on this forum. We love Spain and Spanish food and we will definitely be buying in GA.

Hi dleafy, then I certainly apologise for not seeing the joke! I did wonder at one point, but got caught up :) Sometimes this written approach doesn't lend itself to irony. Well done :)

Your on the nail Gavetran on all points, we also like an occasional greasy joe and just desserts catered for this well, but considering the amount of brits in GA the restaurants that sell traditional english fayre are very limited most eateries sell international cuisine or spanish excluding the Chinese and Indian restaurants. When buying in spain or anywhere else you pick what suits you best. Sadly ive heard so many brits in GA moaning that the locals dont speak much English as its a requirement.
They dont like it up em !

I've always regarded it a bonus if the locals speak English. The downside is it reduces your diligence in learning the local tongue.

The best English Breakfast in GA is a home-cooked one (IMO) with bacon, eggs and sausage from Unide in Monte y mar Alto.... Am partial to a tostada con tomate y café con leche from the nice little bar opposite the school towards the Carabassi though (can't remember what it's called). Around 1.5 euro for the aforementioned - you can't go wrong, and they don't speak much English which helps me practice my Spanish lol

I have a full English so rarely that I wish somewhere would charge €15 for a really good one! Someone take the challenge!

In Santa Pola, there's a superb churro place...packed every weekend... sometimes I wonder if a few more people realised the Spanish ate "donuts" and drank chocolate for breakfast it would be more popular amongst our countrymen. :)

Once I had one of those €3.50 breakfasts in Benidorm. Memorable.

Turned out I only had the one English breakfast. House hunting was great. I'll post when I get home. At the airport now!
