Best option is either open a Santander or Norwich & Peterborough account

You can withdraw €300 a day from Santander C/P if using their card or Sabadell/La Caixa/Cajamurcia/Santander CP for the Norwich & Peterborough card

You always get the rate that is shown on the BBC business page which is always .02 above the normal rate for no charge

I have had a Norwich and Peterborough Gold Classic account for the last 4 or 5 years and found it extremely useful and I have used it at most of the larger bank ATM's in GA.

There is no charge for withdrawals worldwide and yesterday I got €1.2824 to a £sterling.

You have to pay at least £500 into the account a month and the maximum daily withdrawal is the equivalent of £250.

Well worth considering

Dave

Cheers Victor.

I normaly use HiFX, just checked Transferwise and they are giving 2.17 cents more to the £ this morning and the charges are £4.10 lower.

They gave me a rate of 1.2844, the BBC is currently saying the rate is 1.2841

They say the money will be in my Spanish account in four hours, I'll check later and see!!

Thanks for the pointer

John

weve used transferwise monthly for last couple of years, excellent service. the principal of moving money around the world made easy. The only concern is i read a while back that Richard Branson was looking to get involved which judging on his past financial business would involve exploiting the business as best he can to maximise profit.

I have just used TransferWise for the first time. Set them up for online payments with my UK bank, added the app to my phone and then did it all on the phone.  Rate was 1.3 and money was in my Spanish bank account in 3 hrs.  Now it's all set up I can transfer so easily as it stores all yr details. Excellent service.

That's not bad at all, XE rate is 1.33 at the moment, hopefully it will keep climbing until the brevity vote then who knows what'll happen.

Another convert here, previously using Caxton FX, Transferwise just saved an extra £7 over Caxton's quote on simultaneous screens, buy a mojito (or 2)  in Tutti's next time we are out - every little helps!

As previous post we've used transfer wise for last 2 years its so easy, the last transfer was done on my phone whilst sat at cafe in GA, i remember years ago waiting in uk bank and doing manual transfer which took a week to arrive, personally i think the banks took the mickey and even charged £20 for the privilege. The XE rate is currently showing at 1.30385 on my system not 1.33 any suggestions why.

WOW - the power of this forum.

Just done exactly the same as Puddy-Woo set it up on the laptop and then put the app on the iPhone.

Really easy - thanks everyone, this will save some serious dosh. To make it all completly low-cost I will transfer any holiday / break money into the BBVA via this and then withdraw from there for free
