Hi all , we will shortly be finishing paying off our mortgage on our property in GA ,(hurrah! ) , our bank ,Bankinter have told us there are some extra costs ( surprise,surprise!! ) associated to this, apparently the bank takes documents to the notary to cancel off the mortgage ,€300 for the notary,then if the banks solicitors pick it up from the notary and give it to the land register it's €500 ( no charge if we do this ourselves ) ,then the land register cancel the mortgage €200 ,grand total €1,000 ! ,just wondered if anyone had any experience of this and how easy is it to do the transfer of documents from notary to land register as €500 seems a bit steep to take a few documents from one place to another!!
