UK Government Locator Form

Just looked at the government website at the quarantine rules and it says you must travel straight to your quarantine address and stay there for 14 days, would the airport pick up on it if you turned up for a home bound flight two days early ? Who knows ?

Been through this a couple of weeks ago current rules are if you are staying in the uk after arriving for 14 days or more you must isolate for 14 days. If you are staying less than 14 days then you must isolate for the entire time . Your isolation period starts from when you step on Uk soil so if you arrive at 2355 that is still day 1 even though you have only isolated for 5 mins it’s a day done. It says nothing about time of arrival just that the day you arrive is day one and you must travel directly to isolation place.
Interestingly and I checked with helpline anyone in the house where you are isolating does not have to isolate unless they show symptoms and can go out and visit others etc as per normal rules etc. But no one else can visit while you are isolation.
Confused so was I

Not wanting to make it worse than it is - but this is from the gov.uk site

Example 1
You leave a non-exempt country on Monday morning and arrive in England on Monday afternoon. You must self-isolate:  on the day that you arrive back for 14 full days AFTER that

Example 2
You leave a non-exempt country on Monday afternoon and arrive back in England on Tuesday morning. You must self-isolate on arrival and for 14 full days, including the Tuesday.

I have to say I believed the rules were as you said Spurs. So legged it out on after 14 days in the UK (landing at 18:00 fro ALC) but looks like I should have stayed in one more day

I think there's been a quiet tweak to the rules as I was under the impression (as Spurs) that it was 14 days including the day you arrive. Now it's 14 days and the day you arrive.
Also I'm now in quarantine for the third time and my other half is still free to go out as long as she doesn't show any symptoms.

To clarify, does this mean we are not allowed a 12 day stay in the UK?
So, Ryanair should not have allowed the booking?

To clarify , you can visit for as little or long as you wish, the rule is that if your visit is less than 14 days, you must travel directly to the place you will be quarantining and follow the quarantine rules once there for the duration of your stay. But I wouldn’t bet on current rules still being current by then anyway.

Many thanks for all your replies. As you say, things may well change in the interim.

It’s obviously changed since I came back then as I spoke to helpline then and they confirmed it was 14 days including the day I arrived . But I guess it moved on, the most important thing is there have been so many rules and changes I doubt if anyone actually understands what we should do either in normal at hone situations or travelling etc. Even Boris got it wrong the other day but apparently in April Dominic Cummings got it right maybe we should all ask him !!!!
