Noise Reduction
« on: March 29, 2015, 13:59. »
Anybody who lives on Altomar 2 will know  that the walls are made of " more holes than brick " bricks  and are not very good for noise reduction and was wondering if anybody had looked into how to possibly fit some sort of insulation to the walls especially  the bedroom " ahem ". I don't know if you can get any specific products in Spain but do know of a lot of new products available in the UK and if enough people wanted to do it you could possibly get a bulk order sent out cheaper. I do know a lot of the noise was made by rental holidaymakers and not necessarily by permanent residents.

When it comes to snoring, unfortunately I am one of the best at it which is unfortunate for everyone else, wife reckons I could suck the wallpaper off the walls. During the day the noise is not a problem, it is the night time when people come home at 2,3 and 4 o'clock in the morning slightly? worse for wear drink wise with no consideration for other people that's the problem.

Sunseeker we looked into doing the same as next door was a rental with occupants working at local restaurants, they came back at 3am ,washing machine went on then the shower, saying that we got payback at 8am when we got up . Anyway Brico depot crevillente sell everything to construct a stud wall either in wood or a very good metal frame which you fix to the wall , sound insulation sheets or loose fill are used in between with a plasterbord covering which when painted looks as good as before, all sockets move forward.
They dont like it up em !

Yes it definitely cut out a lot of what i call white noise from like the tv and people talking what it could never remove is the clip clop sound of people walking around in heels, i suppose because there floor is also our floor so any noise would travel across the floor.Weve also considered laminate flooring through out which is widely available the benefits being the sound insulation and the warmth in winter.

I would google "acoustic membrane" we used this in the UK it was fantastic. If this can't be sourced in Spain buy in the UK then get them to ship over to Spain.

Membrane is like a heavy rubber sheet that comes in a roll, you hang to the wall like wallpaper with contact glue then apply plasterboard. The thicker the better - 22mm and double up. I used 22mm sound proofing  plasterboard - it is more dense than the normal plasterboard.

The key is that sound needs to be absorbed and dampened.

Its just come back to me the plasterboard I used was 12.5 Soundbloc making a total thickness 25mm not 22mm. was such a long time ago when we done this. >:(

Thanks all for the info, the acoustic membrane was the item I was thinking about, but Victor's solution is also worth looking into.
