....to all the bars and restaurants opening for business today under the new guide lines, fingers and everything crossed that it goes to plan and that you are paving the way for us all to return to some sense of our new normality

Regards all

I think all the requirements are doable, the only unknown and hard to control aspect is the people. From what ive seen 95% are doing stirling work at great cost and inconvenience, the other 5% are complete buffoons who either through ignorance, selfishness or pure arrogance seem to do what they want, anyone of of these could undo all the establishments hard work.

Hopefully the businesses in GA and Spain can make some money, I'm going to sit back an wait, too many balls in the air to consider visiting GA at the moment.

Enjoyed a drink @ Marian's bar in the square quite busy, the Azul Indian restaurant was open for sit down meals, as was the Spanish restaurant, ice-cream parlor and the 24 hour shops. Of
people who live in glass houses should undress in the dark !

Very surreal - at 2pm yesterday, middle of May, 30 degrees full sun (at the Heaven Star) we were the only customers in the whole Carabasi complex.

Most establishments aren't opening until late afternoon as there is just no-one about.

I wish them all well but fear that some may not make it without a late influx of tourists.

Valencia province is staying on phase 1 until the next review, but even when the bars / restaurants can open with 50% inside and out it's no good if there are no customers. Hopefully it will be better at weekends.

Any business without deep pockets will not survive. Obviously no Brits, that are not resident in Spain, can visit GA as they cannot travel to Spain. Even when the restrictions are lifted how many are going to risk it? I would suggest not many.

Also there is less money in the pockets of many due to not working here in the UK and for some it will be better to feed the kids than spend it on a trip to Spain.

Prices will crash (supply and demand) and cash flow will be the driving force rather than selling at a profit.

Economics I seem to remember suggests that when demand is low prices full and weaker businesses close.

Not the time to be in any business that relies on tourism me thinks.

John H and Tony plus others timed it right to sell up their homes in Spain. I bet right now you could not give one away. I had just purchased a brand new car over there which is parked up at Alicante airport and it will be a miracle if it starts when I finally visit GA.

The timing did seem somewhat fortuitous. Do still miss it though. My OH and I were reminiscing yesterday about various aspects of our times in GA. As I may have mentioned previously, I have a motorhome now and that is sat on the driveway collecting dust and bird droppings. It's going to be tough for some time for anyone connected to the travel industry.

I dont know about house prices crashing as they havnt really recovered from 2008 that much. Whilst i hope that all businesses survive the coming year lets be realistic it was tough for some last year when it was going well economically. There is constant media talk of people chomping at the bit to go on holiday abroad and uk locations being overwhelmed with staycationers. Everyone i know has no intention of going anywhere this year irrespective of the industries claims.

Same Derek - Mine is 18 months old from FWR. Came over for one weekend at the beginning of March to collect it. As I "thought" I was coming back just three weeks later I used VIP parking which is like a valet service - drop off at Costa and you pick it washed and cleaned after calling them on landing at the same point.

Heaven knows what (they think) the bill is going to be when I try and collect it as that scheme is only cost effective for leaving it there 2 -3 weeks - gulp  :-[
