You must be hardier than me John, I was just out last week and got in our urb pool up to my knees then backed out again.  You can swim in the life resort pool, it not very big but lovely to be able to use in the winter when it's too cold for outdoors.

In the summer I swim at Thornwick Bay, just down the road from home, after that anything feels warm!!
I've never been tempted to do the Xmas day dip with the really hardy folk

Sea is always warmer than pool at this time of year, & is still reasonably friendly till mid-Novenber.

John I think I am meant to be Mediterranean!! we live at Seaton Carew a lovely little seaside village and I love being by the sea but I could never swim in the North Sea even on a baking hot day, it's far too cold for me, they do a Boxing Day dip here in aid of charity too and although I have watched, even if it was mid summer I couldn't join in, they have my admiration though.

Hi Hazel, I don't stay in that long, I reckon after three minutes hypothermia would set in!!

I recall couple of friends going for a dip up near Berwick on Tweed. Upon the first diving in the second enquired "What's it like?". "Dunno, I can't feel anything" was the response. I haven't been swimming in UK waters for about three or four years now. I know, I'm a southern softie.

Well you can happily stick me in the northern softie box, love the Shirley Bassey May, June to October, it's fabulous and why we come to Spain, let's face it as beautiful as parts of England are, you can't rely on the weather even in summer, long may we all enjoy Gran Alacant, we will be escaping for a couple of weeks in December, it's getting harder to go back to the cold.
