Update Tues 23rd Sept 13:30.
Lidl has been demolished.
The unit for the re-location of the Optician has been completely gutted.

Blimey thought a building these days would have more than an ten year lifespan . Amazing hope they have a good business plan seems such a waste
-
what is going there?
-
What will come instead???
-
A new improved Lidl.
-
Bring it on! Investment, investment, investment! :)

Would love to know how many more customers LIDL are expecting with the new store
I assume 1000s to offset the cost of the new building
Must confess the old one seemed fine
Still what do I know

I totally agree gavetran, investment like this underpins GA. What we now need is some leisure facilities ie cinema, bowling, indoor swimming pool etc which will draw people into the area specifically over the winter.

And a golf course!!!

I think the best we can hope for is Crazy Golf.

i think the golf course will be the red herring never to be caught

Was amazed how quick it came down, likewise wonder if Lidl has a bigger store on site how much more revenue it will generate.

I think something is going on in the Lidls empire. We have a big store in next town in UK been totally refurbed for no apparent reason as they all seem to be set out the same to me and now there are plans in our own town for a lovely old building to be knocked down and replaced by Lidls. Locals, including me, are not happy.

As with all good retailers Lidl are continually looking at their place in the market and are repositioning their offer
Over the last few years they have very successful introduced more and more perceived up market products
Building on this they are enlarging some stores to offer a broader range with more fresh produce offering, their aim is to be a "one stop" venue rather than a "top up shop"
It will be interesting to see the end result, there's definitely sufficient competition in GA to grow their market share
Regards all
John
