Title: Pool Running Costs
Post by: BeachLife on September 14, 2015, 18:24.
Hi

Friend of mine at work is looking to buy a larger property (4 bed) in GA and he got around to discussing the running cost of having his own pool. As we have a community one I dont have a clue. I know the answer will be a pretty general one and that there are two distinct types (fresh and Saltwater).

Anyone care to share approximate annual prices. ?

On average a 8m x 4m pool is about €75 a year on chlorine tablets, PH control, flocculant and water top-ups

You will need a 750 watt pump will run for about 9 hours a day in July and August, hardly at all in winter. There are, of course, other occasional maintenance costs such as test kits, replacement vacuum tubes and cleaning heads, etc, but probably not more than another €50 a year on average.
You always have to bear in mind the possibility of more serious problems such as pump failure, new sand for filter, tiles lifting, not an annual cost but worth bearing in mind

As a guide, getting a man who does costs €40 a week for a professional maintenance service, including chemicals. between June and September.

Mains  water in Spain is metered, so you pay to fill. As for electricity, You probably need 3-phase electricity bill will high

But on a personal note I would not even consider it if you had young children(personally not worth the risk)
