Seemingly 'within days' Gran Alacant will have a Burger King drive thru in the Commercial Centre! We are there daily and have not seen anything?

I am currenly on a short break in Peniscola and stumbled upon yet another drive-through Mac Donalds today ... my reaction was "Oh no, they are everywhere, even here". Now Burger King in GA ? ?
-
Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure it will be a welcome and successful addition to GA.
Best wishes to them.
Surprised there's nothing to see yet as one of these operations takes a lot of planning and costs a small fortune to open

Interesting not my favourite diner either but the grandkids love them
Near where we live about 6 years ago McDonald's as a trial built and opened a restaurant in about 2 weeks from breaking ground to opening it was amazing to watch it go up daily never seen so many workmen on a site it is made of a type so corregsted metal and wood but it was still a real achievement
Doubt that will happen in GA and I think the policy now is to move into already finished and used buildings it's so sad to see so many old London pubs are now these places but I guess there is a large market

Oh god my worst nightmare!!!

These guys do that much research on demographics, head counts, seasonal fluctuations, the competition etc etc before they open a franchise it is very very unlikely that they have got their numbers wrong.
I reckon they are onto a winner

Oh my God, No .... but at least my husband will love it, he always drives half an hour earlier to the airport so he can have one there !
-
Well I hope Burger King are going to employ people to clean up all their discarded rubbish ?

I agree John these fast food franchises rarely fail. The coming to GA shows they have faith in the area.It will do well because it offers good value consistant quality food. Not what i like but millions do.Robust monitoring by the council will sort any rubbish problems.
-
No signs of anything happening today either, the only places I think it could go is the wasteland opposite Grannet's office, the wasteland by the N332 or the wasteland opposite the Chinese Restaurant. Will let you know as soon as we see anything!
-
When you have so much choice in Spanish fresh cooked food why would we ant this trash?
-
I hope they will be selling chicken nuggets after 18:30 or we might be seeing some of this ....

I don't know whether it's true, but when I was in GA CC today I was told that the new Burger King is to be built on the waste ground where the bins are at the GA CC car park.
Dave
-
Sounds like a very suitable position - and handy for the bins as well!
Bert
-
Hmmmmm not very suitable if you live in the first row of properties overlooking the golf course
-
Good point. Might also interfere with the new N332 access.
Bert
-
They could name it the 19th hole.

They are certainly cracking on.............
-
Speaking with the builder today the new Burger King is zooming along, a couple more weeks and they will be flipping burgers. Just to clarify this area is not waste ground but was originally zoned as a strip of bars, shops restaurants. Hopefully others may be built so finishing off this area.
-
Superb. When BK opened on the new Santa Pola strip I think Lizarran and 1000 Monteditos came after... that would be great. More the merrier!
-
15:30 Wed 29th July .... photos attached of the latest build progress on the new Burger King ... things are now moving fast. Can´t be long before it opens ! !
-
Personally would have rather had a McDonald's
For breakfast after a skinful you can't beat the old double sausage mc muffin !!!!!! Yum yum
-
Certainly cracking on with it today!
2nd week in August is opening day we understand!
-
Blimey. Where was that guy with the Makita boxes when the market wanted building! haha Can't we get Burger King to sponsor the golf course?!
-
Where have all the bins gone ? isnt that in the Mercadona car park where there was a row of bins ? ???
-
They've moved them to outside your house. haha, only joking, last time I was there the bins were still in place. this is "behind them" (or in front of them if you're standing on the 15th fairway I suppose)
-
Its been 12 years (for me) since was promised a golf course by Parador Properties

Its been 15 years for me. The man from Atlas said so.
-
Certainly not our cup of tea rather have A paella from the take-a-way opposite Mercodona. Freshly cooked - bliss.

Sat 8th August .... photos attached of the latest build progress on the new Burger King.

Ha Les you beat me to it! :)
This morning it looked like it was well on schedule for opening this week!
-
Photos taken this morning - Burger King will be open tomorrow afternoon :-)
-
I've never been so excited about a food place I hate so much in all my life! haha. I keep daydreaming about what I am going to eat there, and then remembering I haven't eaten there or anywhere similar for thirty years on the basis of it being awful haha! I'm hoping now that whole strip gets developed!
-
I called in at a service station on the M62 one night last week in need of refreshment, I had a Burger King Chicken Royale and fries, it wasn't bad, infact I quite enjoyed it.......it was definitely less calories than the haddock and chips I almost turned off the motorway to buy and probably a darn sight healthier.
I'd definitely have one again
#pleasantlysurprised

John
PS don't tell Mrs H, she'd play hell at me eating one
