Strange. It is a secure site see here, https://www.grupotelecable.es/gran-alacant/
There can't be anything at risk if it has the secure padlock before the www. surely as that is the whole idea of secure sites.

We signed up with Avatel in Jan 2020. Apart from a morning's loss of service early that year (to increase speeds from 40-50mbps
to 85-100mbps), we've had no other problems. Until yesterday. Turns out the thin yellow cable had welded itself to something.
Anyhow, all up and running again, sameday service, and all the staff/technicians speak good English.

DaveC, do you have a local telephone number for Avatel please?

HTTPS is a secure socket communications path between yourself and a server, it uses a public / private encryption key to encrypt all traffic, there is nothing to stop a crooked website using this encryption and stealing peoples money and data. I suspect the Norton warning I got wasn't in this case valid though.

Aficionado,
I'm not sure if this is a local number but the number on emails I've had from Avatel is:
0034 910 800 910

Thanks Alan, I have that one ok, it is the generic Customer Services number that goes through Madrid, I can call it but experience last time wasn't great, hoping for a local direct number to turn up for the GA office.
