Hi ,just wondered how the new hotel was coming on ,does anyone have any pics ,is there any time scale on when it may open ,Covid safe allowing, which could be " how long is a piece of string " i imagine ! ,gracias and Merry Christmas + Happy + a better new year !! to you all in GA
-
Would also be interested to see some new photos of the hotel
-
The finishing touches are currently being worked on.
Quirónsalud are the first to announce they will be opening a clinic on the ground floor of the AJ hotel, at the beginning of 2021, which is great news for GA that such a prestigious health provider has chosen GA for it's new centre!
-
Never heard of the health company quoted, is it a large group?
-
I'd never heard of it either, quick Internet search, it's the biggest hospital group in Europe. May need good insurance to get in there but hopefully never need it.

Why are they having a clinic In a hotel ? Would people want to go and stay there on holiday knowing there is a clinic of sick people going in and out. Seems a weird idea
-
Had a look at the hotel when we were out in October, the outside looked finished but works were going on in the interior.

I agree, it sounds like a barmy idea. Hotels have "wellness" and "beauty" attached to them normalls (gyms, spas, salons) - First time I have ever heard of a hotel being actively associated with sickness.

Could be quite handy if you succumb to a dose of Covid whilst on your vacation 😯
Good to see you back and posting Kevin.
Have a good 'un everyone, best wishes for a happy and healthy 2021

Two photos of the new hotel below, taken today (Wed 6th Jan). The ground floor is almost an empty 'shell' so still lots of work to do before completion.
-
Looking good let’s hope we can use it 😷😷
-
Are these views facing the carpark or the N332?
-
N332 - The Burger King/Fosters building can be seen to the left in pic 2
-
The views if the front entrance to the hotel face the N332
-
Has anyone been to the new hotel yet ? Looks every nice better than the original photos. Is the restaurant part open to the public do you know ?
-
Just don’t get a room above the KFC that’s opening in one of the ground floor units unless you like the smell of greasy chicken cooking lol

Got a really good deal and decided to book a night at the hotel. We arrived Monday and checked in at 11.30am as the hotel was not that busy. The room was good had everything in it required. It’s definitely more of a business hotel than a tourist hotel due to its position but having said that there were quite a few tourists the following morning taking breakfast. We were given a room at the back so it was very quiet. The room was soundproofed anyway. Bathroom and toiletries were of very good quality. We went up to the pool area and were pleased to find it was just us there. Pool was lovely and hardly any noise from the road at all which was surprising. Best part was breakfast. This was really nice. A good choice of hot and cold food. For the price of €62 for the room it was a good deal. Great if you have family overspill or we have crossed over with family and had to all squeeze in to a two bedroom apartment.

Great post, thansk Nicki. Looks better than I thought, Certainly a good option for family overspill
(now if they had a pool bar on the roof)

That's a reassuring write up, thanks for the info

Great review we need a hotel in the next couple of weeks as we don’t land until after midnight, jump in a taxi stay one night, nice breakfast then walk around to the house and open up all refreshed, then jump on the airport bus to pick up hire car again with fresh eyes so not to miss a dent or ten.

Ha yes we said that a nice pool bar would have been great ! These is so much Empty roof space could do all sorts up there
-
Some solar panels to reduce the carbon footprint perhaps.
-
Hi has the hotel got a indoor pool for the public to use ?
-
No indoor pool but lovely pool on rooftop with grassed area.
-
I thought it was going to have a spa and indoor pool !!, is the roof top pool heated ?

We're there plenty of taxis available outside the hotel?

I haven’t noticed any taxis waiting to be fair, I can’t imagine they’ve got many guests at the moment so those without cars probably just get dropped and go back to the airport.
-
I'm trying to recall if I have ever stayed at a hotel anywhere in the world that has a permanent taxi rank outside. I haven't stayed in many hotels built on top of Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets by the side of a main road in the middle of nowhere either I suppose, but I am not sure those factors would increase the chances.

I noticed yesterday that the new Quiron Medical Center has opened at the hotel next door to the KFC and are also doing pcr and antigen tests.

Indeed they are.......considerably more expensive than the two existing clinics though :(

"the new Quiron Medical Center has opened at the hotel next door to the KFC."
Not something I ever saw myself reading haha. I wonder if our "hospital, KFC, taxi-less hotel" is unique in all the world?!

None of the illusive taxis were waiting outside the hotel. Not many people in the hotel. Prob about 12 rooms taken when we stayed there. Even if it’s full I can’t see any taxis waiting there
