Title: Portable air cooling

Hi, this year in determined to buy a unit for my stay at my Mam's place in GA. She doesn't want Aircon since she doesn't use it in the Summer.  Does anyone have any recommendations for a portable unit, that's effective at cooling a bedroom, and suggestions on where to buy?  Thanks, Brian

Quicksave shop have been advertising the rental of a portable unit.

We bought one years ago but sold it very quickly; the problem was that it had to be vented outside similarly to a tumble dryer. This meant leaving the bedroom window open enough to get the vent hose out, as fast as it cooled the room warm air came in the open window. Noisy as well. Maybe they've come on a bit since then but a hire is probably best to try out before spending on one.
