Title: Recycling bins
Post by: David and Linda on December 29, 2019, 12:47.
I believe it’s been said before , but today I was stopped by a Spanish Gentleman as I was about to put drinks cans in the yellow bin, he was adamant that they go in general waste. I have just checked the Santa Pola web site and it confirms cans in yellow bins, maybe these bins need to have stickers on them as what chance have tourists if the locals appear to get it wrong !!

It would probably help to label them better, I have lost count of the number of times I have seen plastic bottles in the (green) glass bin and glass bottles in the ( yellow) containers bin, primarily intended for plastic bottles and aluminium cans, and as for the (blue) paper/cardboard bins - well, anything can be found in there!

I was particularly annoyed last year to find a recently positioned orange bin - for waste cooking oils - stuffed full of empty plastic bottles instead. Are people really that dense??

Yes they are. People also don't have sufficient nous to crush the plastic bottles first as well. It doesn't take many of those 5L ones to fill up the skip if you don't crush them first. They all have a concertina design to make it easy to do but people are too lazy.

Yes, if you crush it then put the lid back on they stay in a crushed state.
