Title: Portable Air Cooling
Post by: Capester73 on August 04, 2019, 15:57.
First time poster!  I visit GA a couple of times a year when my Mam's place on Avda Escandinavia is available. She has no Aircon and it's killing me.  I've never managed to find a portable rental,  so am  going to take the plunge and buy something portable.  Is Euronics the best place,  and does anyone have and recommendations? Thanks

I bought a portable unit for UK, check the noise levels (db),does the unit have a sleep function, the cooling capacity for the size of room , the exhaust hose is long enough to the window (you may need an window kit).
Try and read customer reviews on the product you buy.
I bought an AEG Chilliflex Unit which is excellent but a little noisy.
Euronics are great ,maybe a little more expensive but, great advice and after sales service.

You can buy them now without needing an exhaust hose.So they can be placed anywhere in the room.

Fantastic,  I did wonder about Quicksave.  For 3 weeks,  it's probably cheaper to buy, although I'll enquire.    I'm after the house free one and found this

I looked at that one when I came over in July as had seen similar on Amazon.  A lot cheaper on Amazon.   Does anyone know if they deliver to Spain?

Not sure how an  air con unit works without any form of connection to  the outside world, the heat from the room has to be dumped outside.

It's an evaporative air cooler,  apparently

If it's an evaporative air cooler it won't work very well, certainly not in Spains temperatures, be much better to buy a portable air con unit.

We had a portable aircon unit. We had to have the hose pipe go outside. Was no good for us. Too noisy and cockroaches got in the pipe!!!

Cockroaches are a pain, we found they were entering our house via the ventilation stack on our solarium , since I've tied a fine mesh around the stack louvres the problem is vastly improved, last couple of visits to our house I've seen none.

I'm only really planning on using it in a smallish bedroom.  It's my Mam's place you see, she's only there in the Spring and  Autumn and doesn't need aircon.  She'll not want to faff about with window venting.  Maybe I'm best off just with the ceiling fan on full pelt then?

I bought a portable air con unit from Leroy Merlin. You don’t need any kind of vent for it the only problem is it doesn’t cool the whole room down but it definitely cools you down also it can be used in the winter for warm air .

We use fans and have a South facing bedroom in GA, don't often use our air con, use it more for warming the bedroom in winter. As fans cool your body by passing air over skin, they don't actually cool rooms so there is no point in leaving them on when the room is unoccupied.
