Our house is covered in it, apparently it comes across from Africa.

About thirteen years ago while in GA we had a dust storm, the wind that accompanied it was hot like a hair drier blowing on your face, have never experienced anything like it then or since, everything was left covered in a very fine reddish dust.

It's like a fine talcum powder. A fact of life in GA. First job when I got down to the apartment was always going over the shutters and railings with a wet cloth.

Wish it was fine talcum powder ! Our house looks like its covered in red mud !

The red dust is an annual event this time of year, if possible clean everything down whilst its still wet as it washs away quite easily, once dry and baked it takes some shifting especially off furniture.

Thank you for advice

A link from the papers that explains the background to the recent storm and why when the storm came from the west the wind came predominantly from the east. The washing machine effect apparently.
