I can't wait to see him next week to see how it went. I said, we'd probably have been there too but we're gonna become grandparents in a couple of weeks and the wife has put a block on buying in Spain for a few years.

Makes you realise why you often see them making such low offers on this programme, also makes you think that there are lot of unrealistically priced properties for sale in GA

We got €165,000 for our two bed duplex on Novamar 5 last year.
Next door, end of block, three bed duplex was sold at the back end of last year for €135,000 by the bank who stood the mortgage.
Another bank have also just sold a south facing three bed duplex overlooking the pool for €125,000 on Novamar 5.
If you know where to look the bargains are there

Yes there are similar properties to ours that have been for sale for a year or more, and our price was higher, but we have had a lot of refurbishment.
People aren't necessarily looking for cheap deals.

Ooh let me have a guess, the british couple are retiring early and looking for a spanish property, they know nothing about the area but think its wonderful. They are selling there 2 bed terrace in suburbia with no drive or garden and want a 4 bed detached villa on a large plot with sea views and a pool (must have a pool) with a budget of £3.60. They see properties over budget, pick faults with mosf of them, then return to the uk to consider there options but promising to return later in the year.

and your right about people not having a clue about location vs price. Yes you can have a nice 3 bed detached villa with a pool for €150 k but you are going to be in the Campo with a long drive to the beach.
You must have heard it on these shows hundreds of times " now if we could have this house nearer the sea with sea views ......" Well they cant !
On a different note - good friend of mine has upscaled here in GA selling his 2005 Coral for €95K (think he paid €135k for it) to a really nice Novamar (blue roofed) house overlooking the allotment area - bang on South facing with gated, covered parking. I think he's done ok (mind you taxes, solicitors and agents must have cost him over €10K) -

I note that they are all still for sale some 20 months after we listed ours for sale, we sold ours in less than 12 months and got all within a couple of thousand of the asking price.
If the “buyers” on the TV programme are visiting some of these overpriced properties they will indeed, if they have any sense and have researched the market, be making offers well below the “inflated” asking price.
Always makes me laugh when they say this is a bargain it’s just reduced by €30,000.....read it was overpriced, no mugs bought it, they’ve just brought it more in line with market valuations.
I went out with an old work mate last week who bought a place on The Golden Mile in Marbella about the same time as we bought in GA, we sold for slightly more than we paid, he paid €320,000 and sold for just over €1,500,000.....I should have listened to Mrs H when she said wanted to buy down there.

In truth June always wanted to buy down there, I was a bit too tight fisted when I compared what you could buy on the Blanca compared to the Sol.
Although we both agree that in hindsight we should have bought in Tenerife for the Winter temperatures....you live and learn!!

I thought GA was shown in a decent light and has done the area no harm. They dropped on with some cracking weather for March filming - always make the place look better
