They'll have a great view from their balconies :-\

Would love to read the business plan for this a hotel on a main road a long way from the beach etc and if you look at the one on the junction in Santa Pola which is closed a derelict I don’t see a great deal of hope here
-
Looks good ,the houses at the back won't like it though Gran. Alacant needs a couple of hotels.

I’m 100% with you Spurs.
I wouldn’t want to spend my vacation next to the 332 and a commercial centre.
I could see business travellers using it or possibly folk on a two or three day “inspection trip”.....on saying that of an estate agent was trying to tempt me a hotel with a view of the Mediterranean would sell me on the area and “lifestyle” whereas Mercadonas car park wouldn’t inspire me!!
It will be interesting to see how it goes, I hope it goes well for them.

Dont make assumptions, these owners when originally buying were well aware that the land was commercial use, potentially restaurants and bars. Since 2003 the land has been used as a school, a tip, a funfair area and more usually an area where dogs k×××. So a nice low level hotel will finally finish the area off. On a more positive note speaking with a local estate agent the hotel will have a positive effect on puerto marino real estate.

Much better than I was expecting! I figured it was an "Ibis Mega-Discount". Still.... Currently, the Gran Alacant Shopping Centre has a total of 75 locales, of which 55 are commercial premises and 20 for leisure and catering. haha... that's some number crunching!
-
Dont know about number crunching, i think Juan Antonio has high expectations for the future.
-
Really pleased it’s going to be a 4 star hotel. Should have a nice buffet evening restaurant open to the public. Also great if you have an overspill of guests staying with you for a day or two
-
Mmm, from the front you will have a magnificent close view of the N332 with the bonus of watching the Ryan Air flights in and out of the airport, and to the rear you can count how many camper vans are in the car park.
Crazy location.

Its going to be a posh Travelodge, nobody in their right mind would have a holiday stay in it, building the same hotel at the down town area of Beirut aka the wreck in Los Arenales and you might have a real winner.
-
Come on naysayers at least give it a chance, what would you prefer more decades of undeveloped land which is zoned for construction just lying as an eyesore, or somebody trying to make a go of it. The money its going to cost suggests someone believes that it has potential.
-
Think it will be an asset to ga, people staying there will use bars and restaurants in the gas centre.
-
Agree with Kev and Watch the Prices in the Bars and Eating Houses go up ::)
But come on dont knock it any thing is better than a Dog toilet
-
Let’s hope it gets completed in one go and not run out of money part built, like so many builds in Spain.
-
This has been posted on Facebook.
-
The developers have obviously studied the area and reckon it will be a viable business, won't be a holiday hotel but a business persons hotel, close to airport and Alicante, hope it does well and injects cash into the area.
-
I agree hopefully a valuable asset to the future of GA. Maybe the land behind Lidl and the car wash will finally get developed, if my memory serves me right i do recall back in 2000 ish somebody stating it was a cinema come bowling alley complex. At the end of the day a few trees and a bit of gravel will suffice.
-
Maybe this is the piece of land earmarked for the go cart track.
-
Maybe someone has told them their is going to be a 18 hole golf course over the road !! :)
-
The golf course has been spoken about for nearly 20 years, yes there are approved plans etc but i think it will never get built. Maybe not a bad thing in my opinion leave the other side of the 332 as farmland with a view of the mountains.

Is that hole big enough to bury 600 MPs ??
-
Big enough, but someone would have to make the decision to do it.
-
We can have vote it or two !!!
-
As the saying goes, 'if voting changed anything, they wouldn't let us do it'
-
The very fact that someone wants to become a politician should ban them for ever being one.

Last bloke to enter Westminster with a good idea was Guy Fawkes

Come on Guys
It will definitely be a Golf Resort ;)
Just wait and see :)
-
Is it causing much disruption in the area ,concrete trucks ,dirt on roads, deliveries etc?

Were down that end of GA and there seems little disruption or mess as most vehicles use the service road on the front.

I bet the owners of those properties opposite the new hotel won’t be happing, it will probably block out the sunset and the mountain views from across the N332 !!!!!
How many storeys is it going to have ?

Steve many people have found that you dont own the view in GA., front line quickly becomes second, as stated already all original owners on Puerto Marino were told that land was commercial so it was inevitable that one day the view would dissappear.
-
Other than the open ground having the school built on it, our view was virtually unchanged across to the airport, mountains and, if you had 20/20 vision, the Osborne bull at Monte Cid for the whole time we owned our place on Novamar 3. Best location in GA for a view IMHO.
-
The new hotel is being built at a fair rate, though not an expert looks an expensive quality build so far.
On a different note i was talking to a guy this week who spoke with another guy who heard from someone else that the adjacent farmer has been given notice that this is his last year of harvest. Make your own mind up.
-
Golf course !!!!!!
-
I don't like to get my hopes up, but they have clearly invested a lot of money in that hotel. I thought it would be a two-star Ibis for business travellers and airport layovers but instead, unexpectedly it's a swanky four-star place with balconies overlooking what is for now a bunch of farm-land. I like to think they know something we don't. This new farmer rumour is more good news. Perhaps it really is coming.

I think the man with the answers is the owner of the GA commercial centre who with others are ploughing 10 million euros into this new ventre. He just needs to build the leisure complex on his other plot behind Lidl to finish the area off nicely.

The area behind Lidl has now been levelled off, all the old building materials such as pipes, cables and gravel have been removed and what looks like a fine gravel has been delivered and spread out. Anyone know what's going on. Photos attached taken 6th June.

To they have a UK equivalent where you can go and view all plans submitted for anything that needs planning permission?
