Hello all...we are for the first time in 10 years...going to fly Ryan-air!
Does anybody know what the difference is between the cabin bags (if there is one)
Standard fare =One small cabin bag.....and Family plus = 2 Cabin Bags..is the "small" a difference

....the bit I dont understand with the family plus is ...." 2 cabin bags for all the family"...is that 2 each/per person or per family? 1 small and one normal or 2 normal?

...so you can bring a cabin bag anyway....free of charge...but it needs to go in hold at gate? and is there a charge for this?....is this correct?

A small bag that fits under the seat in front of you is free. To take a cabin size bag or suitcase on board is £8 this also allows you to take another small bag.this is now priority. The other option is £10 for a cabin sails bag or suitcase that you drop off at baggage drop at the check in desks there is no limit on liquid size with this option. As far as I’m aware they no longer take bags off you at boarding.

Ryanair November 2018 bag policy update: As of November 1st, 2018, Ryanair’s bag policy will change. Only priority boarding passengers will be permitted to take one small bag (40cm x 20cm x 25cm), plus a larger cabin bag (55 x 40 x 20cm) with a maximum weight allowance of 10kg into the cabin free of charge.
Non-priority customers can only bring one small bag (40cm x 20cm x 25cm), that must fit into the sizer. If non-priority customers want to bring a second bigger bag, they can purchase a lower cost 10kg check-in bag for at time of booking online. It must be checked-in at the airport bag drop desk, prior to reaching airport security.
If you are a non-priority customer and have not already added a 10kg bag to your booking, but would like to, you can purchase one at the airport bag drop desk for a higher price.
Duty free bags are permitted in the cabin along with your cabin baggage.

Given that they are consistently bottom for customer satisfaction, I'd sooner walk. In the fourteen years that I had a place in GA, I could never bring myself to entrust my travel arrangements to Mr O'Leery.

Well for me, they are perfect. Their flight times are spot on and they have always been reliable (except during the Volcanic ash cloud thing years ago) and good value for money
The people that moan about them just cant work within their rules. Its not hard to do just follow the guidelines. If you want to sit with you partner / friend / family book your seats. If you dont want to use the bag carousel service book priority boarding (early) and take a cabin bag of the right size on board with you.
Dont buy the food and drink on the plane as its and rip off and always factor in £35 - £40 per person on top of the flight costs for the above and there are no surprises in the total cost paid.
Personally it all works fine for me ...

I use Ryanair all the time, I make sure I fit what I'm paying for and it works fine, punctuality is good and the cabin crew are great. Used to use Easyjet but were always late and got too expensive.

Having flown many times with Ryanair and even though frustrating it is what it you pay for i am now having my first customer service experience with Ryanair which is proofing painful and extremely unnecesarily frustrating...
Prior to Christmas i checked my account for some reason and noticed the 6.30pm flight i had booked back from alicante in 2019 (i like flights from mid afternoon to early evening so not rushing when leaving house) had been moved to a 8.30am flight.... no email / text to warn me so was lucky i randomly had decided to log on !!!!! after a frustrating conversation and being told i could cancel and not clear if i would get a full refund as it was another department i hung up and checked other flight options.... then rang back and got someone more helpful that said would get a full refund as the change was more than 3 hours from original time.... i cancelled flights and told would be 5 - 7 day to get refund, i even got an email saying refund was on its way so happy days.... I then booked new flights..... after 2 1/2 week no refund i rang back and was told that there was nothing they couldas was another department that did refunds but i could email !!! So i have emailed and a week later still no responses. !!!! Havent got strengh to have another telephone conversation for a couple more days !
Saying all that when i rebooked flights they are with Ryanair as they where by far best flight times at best price !!!!

I've had this a few times but I've always had a e.mail warning me about the "important information" about my fluight time change. Dead right - if its under three hours change of time you are not entitled to a refund, but over that you are.
I have detected them putting the odd extra flight on in the same day when the release them with BHX at one point having three (and at one time four) outbound flights to Alicante in 1 day ! However closer to the time they check the load factors and cancel the least full one ... good tactic from their perspective.
On another topic - they are going to have to start screening the cabin cases again, last flight back people were clearly bringing hold baggage on board and trying (failing) to get them in the overhead locker the cases were so thick (deep) they wouldnt go in - held up the boarding process

All booked now, Family plus is a cabin bag each (+ the smaller bag) and 2 x 20kg holdbags so loads and reserved seats.
I agree Tony but the next cheapest was jet2, £100 more each (and there is 6 of) plus the ryanair flight times are better.
So hopefully as Beachlife says just stick to the rules and all will be fine.

I agree with Beachlife, some people either cant or won't follow Ryanairs rules. Whilst the rules do change frequently, theyre not to difficult to understand. I think the issue is simply that some people demand a 5 star service for 2 star money and need to take a reality check. We rarely pay over £100 return flying to ALC which other carriers cant even come close to matching.

Over the years I think our average for flights was around the £150 mark for the two of us which, of course, included two cabin sized cases with not weight limit. Possibly a bit more than Ryanair but worth it for the hassle free experience.

Never had any issues with Ryanair, most of our flights are with them, the only other option we have is easyjet, and they always come up more expensive. I board the plane place my bag under the seat in front of me and away we go.

I agree with the comment about people expecting five star service for two star prices, you are basically using a flying public transport, despite the add ons I can never find anyone cheaper than Ryanair.

Love them or loathe them Ryanair carried 130 million passengers in there last year, EasyJet who are in my opinion are a better airline but sadly more expensive on most occasions carried 80 million. On short haul you pay your money and make your choice. For me flying into ALC is always chase the cheap flight, i consider most airports in england and wales, do the sums and away we go,even come back to a different airport if the price is that good. Now with long haul its totally different i fly with the major carriers and pay decent money but then expect to receive a decent service.

Never had an issue with Ryanair (have with EasyJet) if it hadn’t been for Ryanair being in existence and making travel so cheap and easy to Alicante probably wouldn’t have bought in the area.

We were thinking of coming over this weekend but plans changed. If I had booked yesterday to fly today and return Tuesday it would have cost £58 pp return. You cant argue with that. I prefer Easyjet but that is an absolute bargain

At the end of the day companies like Ryanair had made Europe our Oyster, we have freedom to travel that our predecessors couldn't have dreamed of.
