Ours is now fourteen years old and has expired, has anyone renewed theirs........if so was it an easy process, I have read that it involves an architect visiting the house to check for alterations to that that was originally certified

Sounds like something I'd avoid mentioning as it will no doubt cost money.
They do love red tape out here it must keep thousands in pointless employment.

We've accepted an offer on our place, we've got a couple of months before we complete, the solicitor has everything she needs from us apart from the up to date habitation certificate...........she can get one for me, but obviously at a cost, hence me wanting to know if anyone had done it themselves.

I assume that the main reason for renewing the certificate is the amount of additions that owners have made to their property without permission
The last thing the buyer would need is the amount of aggravation in dealing with the council
Don’t know if this would help John

Cheers Ash, I’ve obtained minor works certificates for all the jobs we’ve done with one exception.....on one job the builder and our administrator told me I didn’t need a certificate as glazing in a balcony with sliding glass panels wasn’t classed as a permanent structure....we will see!!
I’ve asked our solicitor to start the process of renewing the certificate.
Thanks Brandon, fingers crossed it will all go to plan!!
