Just been reading that in a very big operation a gang running hash into Santa Pola have been caught and detained
The police and other organisations have been monitoring the gang for a while
They landed the hash in a fishing boat and loaded it into a van, the van was then stopped
The haul was 1400 kilos......that's a lot of hash

There have also been a lot of Guardia in GA in the past few weeks stopping cars - obviously looking for someone :o

I find it intriguing when the Guardia have their purges. They obviously act on information, but when you see 7 or 8 vehicles clustered together & more than a dozen armed officers standing around, you always wonder what it's about.
The worst I ever saw was at the AP7 toll exit near Valencia where they'd got a family standing by their car whilst 4 of them were in the process of taking the car to bits. The seats were out, 2 of the wheels off, & their luggage & belongings all over the road.
Drugs I imagine, but you never hear the reason until many months after.
Just hope no villains drive the same car as me!

today in Diario Información:
Guardia Civil are doing on search after another in villages where there are lots of English to search for illegal alcohol.
Searches all over the province.

Have you got a link to this article......the only reference I could find was to alcohol being sold in Benidorm on which the distillery hadn't paid tax.
That article was published yesterday

article was in the printed version of Diario Información, page 7 or 9 can t remember.
The website usually only prints part of the articles that are in the printed version.

Mike and Judith why was it the worst you have seen surely its the best,if the vehicle contained drugs etc then that must be a result. The police undoubtedly rely on tip offs some are accurate some not.Sadly people who move drugs around think nothing of using a wheelchair user an elderly relative or even a baby in a pushchair to avoid being stopped. So the answer about whether they use the same car is probably yes why stand out.

Agree with you Victor. The reason I said "worst" was because they were ripping the car apart just outside the toll booth, completely blocking that lane, & much of the stuff they removed from the car was strewn around in the way of the exit booths either side. They could have pulled the car over to the right hand side & made it less obtrusive, safer, & out of everyone's way.
I imagine "low profile" does not have a translation in the Spanish dictionary of policing.
Understand they have a very necessary & difficult job to do.
