Title: Unusual Visitors
Post by: Mark Etheridge on March 05, 2015, 08:21.
For all you wildlife fans out there, now would be a good time to pop down to the Clot de Galvany nature reserve as it is holding at least three fairly rare birds to our area. The bird is the Great Spotted Cuckoo, and you really can't miss them - they are very noisy and quite large birds as you can see from my attached piccies. They probably won't stay in the area for too long but the news is out among the local birding fraternity so just follow the groups of chaps with expensive binoculars to find them!

I will make them the subject of my next article in the GA Advertiser for April - they have a very interesting lifestyle!

Cheers Mark, pity we arnt there to see them.
The gannets are coming back in big numbers to our part of the world, they are out in the bay every day "dive bombing" the mackerel and herring, we should be seeing the puffins returning in the next few weeks

Not sure if anyone saw on the news the woodpecker flying with the weasel on its back?  That picture was taken in my local park in Hornchurch!! (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/05/d3b3ddb4fecb6c4b821e399fe476a659.jpg)

I wonder if the woodpecker had an arrangement with Ryanair, I don't see the weasel's cabin baggage anywhere....
