Huge screen being put up today in the Commercial Centre.
Similar to those at La Zenia - anyone have any idea? 8)

It must be another dodgy Gran Alacant er Santa Pola sign

Was told by Jimmy in Barloko it's to show sports and when no sports it's to advertise the facilities in the GA centre.

Looks like an eyesore to me. I don't need a TV in a bar, and I certainly don't need one in a public "square". I don't know why people don't all walk around with screens in their pockets staring at them all the time if they like screens so much!. Oh.

Nice one, GA vet!

Looks like it's working (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170718/15e99897a41d2f9b2ee1d25831a9692a.png)

From my roof it looks a tacky load of nonsence, whoevers funding it must have money to burn.

Victor, you could invite your friends round and pretend you're watching footie on a big screen telly for nowt.
-
It's not as if Barolo hasn't got enough screens inside as it is.

Barloko now maybe not the best terrace for people being treated for paranoia. "They're watching me!"

Speaking to my mate who manages the centre the screen belongs to the centre and at some point it will spew out noise as well as pictures. In true victor style i told him it was a waste of money which could have been better spent.

You really couldn't make it up. At La Zenia the screen serves a (mediocre) purpose of magnifying the people on the stage under it, and occasionally football matches. The layout of the whole upper deck seems to have been designed around it so that everyone outside a bar/cafe can see it. In the GA centre it immediately cuts of those (rent paying) businesses right under it... imagine what it will be like outside Barloko if this thing has speakers?! A combination of deafening and frustrating (if you like tat and football).
Directly across from it, people with have their backs to it watching th football in the Beer House on their large screen. So I suppose Grill Flavors patrons stand to benefit...albeit they have a TV outside anyway, that will offer a larger and clearer look. It's just pathetic.

According to Juan Antonio its going go be brilliant, reminds me of the funfair that descended on the ground by burgerking that was going to be brilliant as well, sadly it was a commercial disaster.

It does annoy me (putting my Victor Meldrew anorak on) that managers in these places think we all need to listen to inane music whilst walking around, my dad was in ASDA years ago where they play music, he said to a manager why do you play music?, the reply was that the customers like it!, my dad said would they go elsewhere if you stopped playing it, the chap didn't reply, my dad said he'd rather go somewhere where they don't play music, and left his trolley with the manager and went to Morrisons. I love my dad the old bugger says it how he sees it.

Greatest of respect what do you expect in a shopping centre, it's not where I'd choose to spend an evening

What's annoying is that they think we need constant noise and music

In all fairness John it's not really a shopping centre per se. The entire upper deck is only bars and restaurants, and mostly (bar Mercadona of course) downstairs is a place where families and kids spend some time in the evening. It's almost some kind of modern day "plaza", especially given the central fountain.
Last week I sat outside the Beer House having a nice pint watching a reasonably attenuated (nice change!) acoustic band. It was very nice. I hope that a repeat outing isn't ruined by 20 gigawatts of football behind my head?!

Plenty of places in GA to watch live football this season. Always better watching it inside than outside anyway. It`s a no from me. If it`s on every night blaring out then it`s going to spoil some of the eating places up there.

I was stretching a point gaveteran, but given the location it doesn't surprise me one iota
It's not a bad place for a quick bite and a beve.
When I think of a "night out" in Spain it's not what I have in mind
