Title: Kodi............has it had its day?
Post by: John H on July 11, 2017, 11:29.
I dug the Kodi box out last night to watch a film..........after half an hour I packed in.

Ive just had a look at the latest recomendations for add ons and non of them appear to work that well!!

Is it me or is it that many reliable repositories have shut down neccesitating the need for constant updates..........something I just dont have the inclination to do.

Regards all

John

I used it all the time gaveteran, never had an issue until I tried to use it last night, the first time for several months. Couldn't get anything.
A bit of research on the net this morning informs me that it's no longer being supported
The Specto Fork looks exactly the same, just rebranded.....it is however being supported.

All I need now is a recommendation for the best add on for live U.K. TV for when we are next in Spain

Haven't had any problems here in the uk. A lot of the old jarvis 14-16 models need updating, but they're fine when you do.
My mate thought you had to buy a new model to put Kodi 17 on, but you can update the older models.

No problem with my box out here. But then I deleted everything then reinstalled stuff that I knew would work. I follow a few devs on twitter so get a lot of updates on there. Just need to redo box back in the UK when we get home.

I gave my android box my nephew the other day so was left without access to Kodi.
I bought an Amazon Firestick, thanks to YouTube I had the latest version of Kodi on it in 15 minutes and then following the advice of forum members I loaded a "build", something I've never done before.
I choose the No Limits build, great tutorial on YouTube, took about another 15 minutes.
Wowser wowser wowser, fantastic, Kodi definitely has not had its day.

Regards all

John

PS anyone who is installing individual add ons as I was doing take a look at a build, so much easier and so much more up to date content.....too much!!

I've got a fire stick home here in the UK. How do you load a "build"? Are you talking about an update?
Title: Re: Kodi............has it had its day?

Here you go Tony, this is how to put No Limits on your Firestick
http://www.wirelesshack.org/how-to-install-no-limits-magic-wizard-kodi-17-1-krypton.html

To run this you need to have the latest version of Kodi installed, Krypton, lots of videos on YouTube about how to do this.

When installed it looks like this

Just seen on Facebook BT and Sky have won a court case ordering all UK internet providers to block illegal streaming of premier league games next season . This looks like the thin edge of the wedge I suspect movies etc will be next , let's enjoy while we can

thank you john hannon, have just loaded on my hudl2 the build on your posting, it worked ok instructions were clear, the only problem i came up against was when instructed to go back to main menu i could not find an arrow or click on to take me there so i had to keep trying to go back my trial & error. I have just watched ''Dunkirk'' on the movie channel great clear picture. When i finished the movie was not sure how to get back to my normal menu without switching my tablet off. Was a little disapointed only a few sports channels, but i can still watch sky sports etc on Mobdro.   Many thanks....ian

Post by: John H on July 27, 2017, 14:33.
Hi Ian, on your hudl I'm not sure how you get there, on the Firestick if you press the top right hand key the menu as pictured comes up on the bottom of the TV screen.
Move the cursor over the square in the centre, confirm with a tap of the centre ring on the controller and the stream you are watching is exited.
I haven't dug into the sports yet, Facebook pages always have lots of info on where to find a stream for the current big match/event.
