Not sure if anyone else has come across this.
This might come across a bit "geeky"- but I want to use range extender for my Wireless router in the house. So I purchased a TP Link range extender from Maplins and tried it out in the UK and it works perfectly (Sky router at home)
However bringing it over to GA and trying it I couldn't get it to link to the router despite following the usual press and hold of the WPS button on the back of the supplied GA TV router.
Checked in the office and the they (GA TV) have disabled the WPS function on their supplied routers. Not really happy with that to be honest - I got the impression they are trying to prevent Wifi sharing
Now - has anyone on Grannet had experience of activating WPS OK and getting their range extender to work ?

I bought one of those wifi boosters from B&M recently as I couldn't get wifi on the solarium, it works fine for £15 and even works out in the pool area which is great. The only slight niggle is you have to reset your wifi to the new box every time you want to use it. I'm on grannet.

Hi Rich, I bought one of these a few weeks ago, in the UK, dead easy to set up.....all I had to do, from the iPhone, was enter my wifi password.....out of the box and working in a matter of minutes

Hi John, I guess my point wasn't clear. I have a range extender like yours which does work in he uk, but I can't synch it up in a GA TV router because of their "policy". Sounds like it works ok on Grannet, but not in GA TVs routers, well in my case anyway

Whoops sorry Rich, I'm no geek!!
I find the GATV router gives me a good signal all over the house and out in the garden.
It's not too good on the solarium, two floors up, but luckily I get Novamar 4's communal wifi up there

Range extenders ultimately cause interference, if we all used them you wouldn't be able to use your own router as you would have problems with other adjacent routers on the same channel, power output is deliberately kept down to avoid this.

To get WiFi on my solarium I moved the router to a more central point in the house. All I needed was a long extension wire to connect it to the cable that comes into the house.

not sure of the model you have but some have an Ethernet port so that you can connect to you laptop/PC and add the SSID and password manually, others come with the option to wirelessly connect to the extender via HTTP, then you can change the IP address( or DHCP) add SSID and change password (you might have to change you laptop/PC IP address to be in the same range while you connect to the range extender). then reset you laptop/PC IP address and move the repeater to the location you want it,
