Some are a complete rip off. I will never return to one particular property as a result. Charged 60. Arrangement was to let ourselves in via keypad so no meet or greet. No contact at all all week. Arrived to find the promised communal pool closed due to repairs. Instructed by owner to call the local person for advice. Didn't once answer her phone. At the end we had a long list of things to do before we left. Only two middle aged people staying there. Had to strip all beds and put sheets in shower and empty all bins. Kitchen we didn't use and we cleaned bathroom as we went. If the woman couldn't mop the floor and make beds in half an hour there's something wrong with her. Not bad rate of pay for 30 mins work. Last place I stayed was far superior property same rental and no cleaning fee. I stayee in one another time with a lesser fee but the guy met us and showed us around and was in contact. I've read on other posts that wages in ga are low so I'm not sure why cleaners are on 120 euros per hour.

I'm not sure how you can clean a place and do all the laundry in 30 minutes!!
The Mrs and I are pretty OCD in looking after our houses and "clean as we go" in addition to normal housework
Our final clean after a month in GA, and this doesn't include cleaning the solarium, windows, shutters etc takes the pair of us at least three hours!!
All furniture moved and cleaned under, fridge and freezer defrosted and cleaned out...the works!!
Mindst you as someone renting a property I wouldn't expect to pay a separate cleaning charge, to me it should be "all in" with the price unless I request an extra clean in my holiday......hotels/B&Bs don't lob on an additional charge for cleaning your room.
A couple opposite us rent an apartment out, the couple who go into clean it spend about 2 hours there and on top of that take laundry away
You get what you pay for
Regards all

Friends came to visit us last year and booked a place to stay through a holiday rental website. Paid the going rate and left 60 Euros for a clean, however, the place was not very clean when they arrived (floor was filthy) and when then raised this with the holiday rental website the response was 'we will notify the home owners'. They didn't book the rental off the home owners so why didn't the holiday rental firm take some responsibility? Also the keys were left in a plant pot so no meet or greet whatsoever!
Cheers

I always work on - if you don't like it then don't go back!! But do complain!! I have managed holiday lets in GA for many years (now sort of retired), on average I charged 65 euros for a full change over which included solarium, Windows, grills, garden, full inside clean, took laundry home and washed and pressed before returning it to house. I certainly don't agree with Sunseeker that it is overpaid work, and remember that not all guests treat the house as perhaps they should. I have had to remove a full weeks rubbish before now, which contained maggots!! I always provide guests with the GA Magazine and local info, always visit during the stay and have my mobile on 24/7. So please don't tar us all with the same brush!!
the owners/agents should be vetting people before they allow them to manage their holiday homes.
In May this year I booked a villa for my extended family through a Rental Company on the GA Centre (NOT Homefinders). On arrival day the villa and pool were filthy, I was very distressed to be put in this position and after much arguments with the Agents, I resorted to cleaning the villa myself, the pool took a full week of visits from the pool man to be properly clean. I had paid in advance including 80 euros clean and 10 euros laundry per person so, 120 euros and a refund was refused!! So, I now go out of my way to inform people of this company and my experience so it is their loss!!!i have since booked three villas for family through Derek and Tracey at Thansa and they have been immaculate in every way, so again not all agents are the same. Happy days.

I have lived in GA for a few years now and it is amazing how many people do property cleans and to be fair most do a great job although I know a number of 'property cleaners' who turn up with the bare minimum to clean a property and often they are in the property for about 45 minutes. Also unlike the person who commentedabove these property cleaners use the washing machine within the property. Therefore, money made is pure profit!

I don't agree you get what you pay for as I was charged less when I has a lovely Irish guy who met us rang during the week and the house was twice the size. We also didn't have to strip all our own beds or empty all our own bins. He was great. The lady we were supposed to contact at the other place was twice the price and didn't meet us, answer her phone or return a single call. We told the home owner we were less than impressed with her and as a result have not returned to that particular property. The latest place we rented in novamar was good. Met by the owner, owner called now and then to see all OK. No mention of any cleaning fees. The rental was comparable with places that charge additional cleaning fees so all in all a good deal. Hence we're going back. I guess some people may make more mess but we're hardly in the houses and there's just two of us who don't use more than one bedroom and don't use the kitchen. Anyway we've certainly had very variable experiences with the costs of cleaning and what's done for the money.

in case anyone forgot - the initial question was
what the going rates are and what is included
NOT: are they doing the job ok, etc. etc. etc.
-
Plenty of information out on the internet for you to find out rather than ask here though.
I'm sure you will find more specific info about what's included from various companies online.

If you ask 'Gasbags' a question you are always going to get some debate and inevitably go 'off piste'. !!!! It often leads to interesting reading, and often provides good information. I agree with Joe1965, if you want specifics then it is all on the rental web sites.

well, before starting went onto Airbnb and the going rates seems to be between 30 ad 60 euros but had hoped for information on the site, rather than some rants. Thanks for those giving useful information.

Hi,
Most key holders/property management agents will give you a contract which states what is offered and what is extra. For example, some charge an annual fee which includes security checks each week on your property whilst empty (this is required by some insurance companies). Some property managers charge per visit to the property. Cleans after rentals are always extra and this varies and depends on the size of the property. Emergency call outs to properties can also be an extra, especially out of hours. Not many property managers undertake airport pickups (although this was part of the deal 10 years ago for many).
My advice is shop around and go with a property manager who offers a contract as this give both parties understanding and usually they are a legal company paying into the system.
