At the back of the Carrabasi bars they are erecting what looks like a mobile phone antenna behind the sunshine bar. Are the days of balancing my mobile on the window ledge hoping for a signal now about to end?. We will see.
-
Hopefully it will be.
Vodaphone offered our community, Novamar, €8,000 a year if they could site one on our tennis courts/playground area, to cut a long story short the community vote said no.
Our administrator told me that Vodaphone would be going to other communities to try to get a mast located.
Regards all

At least the food will be well cooked with those nasty waves being transmitted out.

It is a phone mast
-
Kev you must have read the same report that i did from vodaphone stating its all perfectly safe.

I'm amazed and appalled that the going rate is only €8,000! That's chump change to a mobile phone provider. Such a shame the country can't stick together somehow and unilaterally tell them it's 80k which they could still easily afford to pay.

It looks to have the potential to be an eyesore.
It seems a strange way to construct something so big and heavy on temporary feet made of wood and paving tiles, it took them ages to level but is a work of art in itself. I don't understand why they didn't start from the feet first but I suppose they know what they are doing. I am intrigued to see how they construct the permanent plinths around all that packing.
The Oceans Bar may need to rethink their advert re the view, but at least the fried eggs in the bars may not need as long in the pan.

I thought they were constructing a boxing ring.
-
Told that the police have stopped them as they do not have the necessary permissions. Unusual for Spain!
-
Back in the UK all that metal would have disappeared by now.
-
hahaha well said!
-
Oceans should rename the bar to ...........Micro Waves
-
Shame for the owners of Oceans - one of the nicer points of going there was the side views out of the windows - dont suppose they asked them permission though !

Work still suspended but Policia Local on site early afternoon taking photo's from all angles.

Total power output is supposed to be about 100 watts

Thousands of people have lived for fifty years around the Crystal Palace TV transmitters with an ERP of nearly a million watts of transmission power without any problems, cell phone relays are very low power, I wouldn't lose sleep over it .

It's being dismantled - started late this morning, so far the cage on the first landing is down.

How on earth can someone spend all that money, putting it up and taking it down, because they have no licences.
Or are they just hoping they will get away with it!
-
Just been and had a look.
It's like a DIY job which the owner decided to give up on and................do something else instead.
Remember the original road up cardiac hill.................?
Well it's nowt like that lol
-
Some chaps were there this morning dismantling or nicking the mast.

It's gone now.
Perhaps it's squeaky bum time somewhere because that was a very expensive mistake.
It didn't even fit on the plot so someone got their measures all wrong, the plot wasn't level, the feet plinths weren't constructed first - the feet protruded into the roadway and had to be leveled on tiles and wood.
Perhaps it was a dry run and they will come back with a smaller one.
I wonder how much they will get for scrap?
