Title: The State of GA
Post by: ray on August 01, 2016, 01:00.
Is it me or has any one else noticed the Decline in Services in GA since the new Council took over

We have lost our direct Councilor for the Area,
The place is looking tired and Rundown, Police Patrols seem to have been cut.
The New Medical Center and School seems to have gone on the Back burner.

Are we becoming the Cash Cow for Santa Pola, ?

Much the same way La Marina is to the little village controlling it, or Orihuelea Costa is to Orihuhela City.

One do's wonder. !!!!!

Some time ago some one said should GA go independent from Santa Pola,
Perhaps its coming to the time this should be looked at again !!!!

Yes things have got worse. I hope all of those who voted the PP Party and Loreto out, are happy with the outcome.

There may have been lots of photo calls when the PP Party were in, but they showed all that was being done for us.

Well done all those that voted for a change.

So, what's got worse?
What changes do we need to brace ourselves for when we come out in September?
Have property prices tumbled as a result of these changes?
Is it time to sell up and move on?
Has the GA Advertiser ran an article on the worsening state of GA?
.....or am I panicking unduly

Regards all

Was out two weeks ago and was surprised how many police were about. Even the bus we were on to Santa Pola was stopped by the police. Dident notice any standard drops at all.

You tend to see more rubbish piling high by the bins when the population is increased and we often see people throwing rubbish from cars next to the bin (usually it is hanging on the wing mirror).  In my opinion the mess is down to individuals!

I think your observations were noted by many locals which resulted in complaints to the local council, in particular, Santa Pola residents not happy with the level of cleanliness:

Just to point out that Santa Pola complaining about a decline in services is the very opposite of what Barry suggested.

Which is why I made reference to Ray's 'original' posting and start of this thread.  Barry living and loving GA should have started in a new thread, maybe entitled 'The Life of Barry'. The other post by Barry maybe should have been under a post about Party Political Broadcasts.  I made reference to Ray's concerns!

We've been here 24 hours and everything looks OK to us
Listening to what the neighbours have had to say about how busy it was in August it seems like the rental industry is in good health.

We recently walked from near the market down to the health centre, along Avd. Escandinavia, it was disgusting on the pavement nearest the sea! Dog mess everywhere, what looked like vomit, and the area in front of the bins near Gran Vista was totally filthy, definitely needs a good clean up. It is not much better near the bins across from Dunbars, rubbish left outside bins, 2 mattresses left there have been thrown into the ravine along with other bits of furniture and rubbish. It seems people are too lazy to place their rubbish inside the bins.
At least you could pop into the office to speak to the previous councillor,  or ask Berry to mention things in his monthly meetings, where is the new councillor for Gran Alacant, do they ever visit and walk around the area like the previous councillor did .

We were going to venture to the market this morning!!
Better phone the GP at home to check our inoculations are up to date before we venture up there!!
Oh the joys of being down the hill

Every Tuesday morning (quite early) the council would collect furniture etc from the side of the bins - as a resident this appears to be infrequent nowadays.  I am not interested in the politics as I believe in live and let live and all I know is that the area is not as clean and this is noted through resident complaints in Santa Pola.  In relation to how busy GA was in August, I beg to differ as the area was noticeably quieter, in particular, in the bars and restaurants.

Is this not a symptom of the times?  We blame Urbaser, the council, the time of year, Anything but the individuals who cause the problem.
How many people object to the mess, but wouldn't dream of challenging anyone they saw creating it in the first instance.  I'm not saying we can "vigilante" the streets, but someone must see people doing it.

We returned unscathed from our expedition up the hill to the market, and shock horror, people were sat at the cafes enjoying their tostadas in the sunshine, with smiles on their faces, the pavements were also thronging with happy people. A cursory glance from the car windows, to me at least, showed the area looking as it always does.
I've just had a walk round Novamar communities, the pavements are still being swept three times a week, I witnessed them doing it yesterday in front of our house, the bins I use had no refuse spewing onto the road aside them.
I will sleep well tonight
