Car Hire at Airport
« on: September 27, 2016, 12:18. »
Hi All,
We'll be back in Gran Alacant for 4 nights in early November and need to book a hire car.
We got a great deal from Avis last time but they are quoting £157 this time.

I've had a quick search and there's loads of companies offering extremely cheap deals. I'm guessing some of them might not be all they seem.
I don't fancy a journey from the airport to pick up and drop off, so can anyone recommend any of the following and let me know if they are based at the airport itself next to where the Avis desk is?

The companies are;
Holiday Autos
Auto Escape
Car Del Mar
Atlas Choice
Auto europe.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Davy !!!

They are all booking agents who do not directly hire cars.
For on the airport check Record, Goldcar or Centauro for prices
I've used all three over the years with no problems

This is interesting. After several long queues at the airport exceeding one hour with the likes of Record, Goldcar and Centauro, I have for the past number of years been using the off airport guys, mainly Dickmans. The most I wait for the minibus is 10 mins, 4 minute drive,  the most it takes to get the car hired and away is another 10 minutes, well happy. On return, drop off/check/sign off on the car 5 mins, usually the minibus is there or if not again max 10 mins wait, 4 mins to the terminal, job done. It's a lot less hassle and to date I have had no problems with them. Most recent rental: 37 euros for 21 days, cheap as chips, plus fuel. Took full to empty so paying for the refuelling charge built into the cost, having topped it up during the hire I reckon about 50 euros to fill the tank, so the charge worked out around 45 giving a true hire cost of around 82/85 euros for the 21 days, let's say 4 euros per day which has to be good value in anyone's language. Skoda Fabia, 4 door, air con, absolutely grand for us.

One of the things I like about Centauro is when you become a gold club member, you are in a separate queue, usually no more than 10 mins .Also I get car hire free at least once a year.I have got a car hired for Halloween week from them €22.

David,

How many ordinary queues do you have to join before you can become a gold club member with Centauro?

If there a long queue go to the "priority queue" and when the operator says "you haven't paid for priority" tell them to look at your booking history......for me at least 50 times with Record, never a problem

We have used Xtra car hire a few times. They are much more convenient but the last two times the cars were poor quality and the costs were higher
