Can anyone please tell me where the nearest florist is or anywhere I can buy a bouquet of flowers?

Santa Pola - very nice. Used it a couple of years ago for the Mrs Birthday (got them myself mind you my Spanglish wasn't good enough to get them to the house)

Try the  the square outside the 'Mercado Central' market in Alicante.  There is an large flower stall and they will make up bouquets with the flowers of your choice while you wait.  They are open daily (not Sundays) from 07.30.
