Title: Renfe - trains in Spain
Post by: granalacant on February 11, 2015, 19:50.
to and back from Madrid, some 75 euros.  some 2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back - impossible to do in a car.
Had finished my business before, so they changed time of the return train without any problem or extra charge.
Gorgeous service.

no problem - if you need good hotels, restaurants etc. just tell me.
The museum shop in the Thyssen Bornemisza is gorgeous, specially the jewelry and the T-shirts. And superb quality as well  :-)

How often do the trains go from Alicante & can you book online?

basically you have a train an hour - booking is better online but if you are over 60, you can get a tarjeta dorada to get extra discount.
you can also go to the train station in Alicante itself, but why bother if you can do it online?
you get via email your ticket, with assigned seat (boy, can they learn - or teach - something to airlines) and that is about it.
if you are 4, there are extra discounts and you can book a table to be between you.
Seats in 2nd class are very comfortable. And of course you have a very large cafeteria / bar on the train.
